I just love it when people think that the good-ol' USA is immune to absolute corruption and that our government is incapable of selling us bald-faced lies. They just can't believe it. And that's exactly why it's happening. The rug has been slowly moved from under our feet for the last 100 years. We're only standing on the last bit of carpet. When they suddenly go for the final YANK, people will be dumbfounded but will, ironically, run to their government for protection.
