Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I haven't been keeping up with the story but I'd say a crap load of hours of community service would be fair. Maybe make them clean up car accidents for a year or two... blood and all. Let them see how those emergency workers spend their time when folks aren't wasting it.

I know going to jail sucks and he'll hate it, but it's not doing anyone any good. All said and done it's just costing tax payers more money.

Punishments today don't make sense. We had a town clerk who was embezzling for years in a neighboring town. She came forward, admitted her guilt before she was caught and paid a check for 150K to reimburse the town the 100k she admitted to taking plus legal fees for audits etc. The only problem was the town had to agree to settle the amount with that check and the audits couldn't find records from anything past 3 or 4 years. She had been town clerk for 20 years. She got 90 days.....

A person who was a small time local drug dealer just got 5 years in todays paper.

I do not think 90 days was enough. I think there should be financial restitution also.

After all, many places now charge for search and rescue for climbers, hikers, skiers, etc. This clown orchestrated a fraud and should pay the freight.

Well, at least the judge ordered that the smuck won't be allowed to make any kind of income from book deals or reality shows, etc. from the incident, in the future.

I agree. There were cancellations and delays for airline flights in the area. Police were dispatched to clear highways in case it came down on a pike. They searched for a body along the route. When the kid blew the whistle it was a classic. Right away as soon as he said we did it for the "show" you could say Oh Ohhhhhh.

He is an idiot for doing what he did. But it was all a hoax, the child was never in danger, no one was really. He should be charged the standard fine for lying to emergency services. Such as when someone pulls a fire alarm at a college dorm or wherever when there is no fire.

I haven't read much into it, maybe he did something else that you guys could explain that was really bad. Otherwise I think he just needs to grow up and move on.

EDIT: Just read the post above me, didn't know airports were shut down and searches were done.
