Default Cop brings a gun to a snowball fight!

And they say you don't need to protect yourself from the police

Here's a little more information from a local paper. Apparently a similar crowd nearby helped push a stuck police car out of the snowbank and everybody cheered. There is a lot of information (along with pictures & video) of the snowball versus gun incident.

It's not clearly communicated but I would guess that the uniform cops responding to the "man with a gun call" had their guns out until they determined it was safe to holster their guns. From what I've read about this incident on 3 different web sites, it would seem that the only cop who drew his weapon for the snowball throwers was the original off-duty Detective in plainclothes and driving the Hummer (his own vehicle).

It should be an interesting Internal Affairs investigation. I would almost guarantee that the Detective in question will most likely get snowballs and snowmen decorating his Hummer at the police station, courtesy of his fellow cops. It will be almost impossible for them not to play that joke.

In defense of gun at snowball fight...have you ever been hit in ear with a snowball and not wished you had a gun handy?

i think there is no justification to pull a gun, especially a peace officer, on anybody wielding a snowball!!!!

and from the video posted befor my post, it sure looked like that "peace officer" would do it again..he should be saying he is sorry, but yet is telling everyone to "go down to the station to file a report then!!!!!"

You should know better than to believe anything you see or hear on any NBC channel.

I think it would show a little foresight to have a passenger with a warm coat, rolled down window and lots of ammo (er snowballs) ready to go when you drive though a snowball fight.

I don't know, if somewhere threw something at my $50,000 Hummer, snowball or not, I would be pretty mad too...didn't require the pulling of a pistol, but who knows what exactly happened...

There you guys go cop bashin again, the cop had his gun about 3"s out of his holster, big deal! , hes approaching a crowd of rowdy juveniles throwin s*** across the street, what the heck do you expect? It was also reported that he was responding a report of a black male w/ a gun, which later turned out be a plain clothes officer.

I think a better question is, why do these maniacs have to congregate on a busy city street, and terrorize passers by w/ this rediculous behavior. you wanna play in the snow, go to a park...freakin idiots!!!!

3 inches out of his holster, it was fully out of his holster . How much does it take to raise it and shoot it , not much. Did you hear his superiors at first tried to say he didnt pull his gun. Darn it though , those pesky video cameras caught him with it fully drawn. THis peckerwood is just plain out of control. Isnt it nice how he can shove anyone around and get away with it because he's a fricking cop. Anyone else would get charged with assault , but not the cops.

The uniformed officer is not the one in question here. He was responding to a call about an armed man.

The plain clothes officer is the one being sent to desk duty and his weapon turned in.
