The Senate passed on Sunday a massive spending bill that wraps up $1.1 trillion of the $3.6 trillion annual budget for fiscal year 2010, which started Oct. 1.
The House has already passed identical legislation, and President Obama has indicate he'd sign it.
The 1,000-plus-page bill covers spending for the Departments of Education, State, Health and Human Services, Transportation and Housing and Urban Development, among others. In all, six of the 12 spending bills Congress is required to pass each year is folded into one measure that raises spending for its designated programs by an average of about 10 percent, or well above the inflation rate.

Every year since 1981 the US budget has grown by leaps and bounds along with the massive sea of red ink. Obama and his bunch have taken red ink spending to heights no one ever dreamed of.

You think? This goes back a lot farther. This also includes those wonderful entitlement programs. The Dems last year held off passing it until Obama got into office. They then increased it 15% last year and that doesn't include the trillion dollar sedative package they also passed. So this year they went for 10%. So 25% increase in one year.

It does go back much farther. However, it never went astronomical until Reagan got into office. Spending as a percentage of receipts went out of control after the Reagan tax cut.
In 1977 the deficit was 53 billion dollars, in 1980 it was 73 billion dollars, in 1982 it had hit 127 billion dollars, in 1985 the deficit was 212 billion dollars and in 1992 it hit 290 billion. Reagan tripled the national debt in his 8 years in office. So much for "conservatism."

Makes me wonder. Obama said there is apparent waste in the system he is going to clean up if we pass the Healthcare bill. Instead, he ups the money the government has to spend. Why not clean up the waste, lower spending, and try to attack the deficit. I guess my math dont work right, because when ive been in debt, I cut back and pay down my debt. Crap, I had it all wrong. You clear out debt by spending more. Now I got it.

Earth to falcon, earth to falcon, are you there? falcon, true or false, revenue into the treasury increased after Reagan's tax cuts were put into place?
True or false
Congress is the branch that controls spending?
How many of Reagan's budgets were "NOT" DOA when the Dems received them on capital hill?
You need to wake up and pull your head out of the sand. These deficits and future deficits are caused by entitlement spending. The government has no business providing healthcare and/or retirement money to anyone just because they get old. We will always be in this position as long as that 11 billion dollar medicare program is allowed to go over budget.

You need to wake up and pull your head out of your butt. Look at 1983 when receipts actually went down. The rate of growth of receipts went down after the Reagan tax cuts. Yep, the Democrats showed no inclination restrain spending. However, the Democrats did not keep promising to balance the budget, Reagan did that. The Democrats did not propose a budget to the US congress, Reagan did that.
