Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default US Poll-Tax the Rich to Reduce Deficit

Two thirds of Americans polled want to tax the "rich" to reduce the deficit. Is this real or am i having a nightmare, flashback or what?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/bloomberg/20...g/awkrrpmondw8

Quote:
Dec. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Americans want their government to create jobs through spending on public works, investments in alternative energy or skills training for the jobless.
They also want the deficit to come down. And most are ready to hand the bill to the wealthy.

A Bloomberg National Poll conducted Dec. 3-7 shows two-thirds of Americans favor taxing the rich to reduce the deficit.

Thus lies the reason we are in the trouble we are in. Everyone wants someone else to pay their way. Something they miss is, these Rich are the ones who own the busnesses, and provide jobs. Keep on Taxing them, and they will take advantage of the open boarders and take their ball and go to another country.

Again there goes that fuzzy math! I guess BHO doesn't understand that those that make 250k are the ones spreading the wealth. They will cut off their nose to spite their face.
I guess he's forgotten the phrase tricked down economics! Rich people spend money, the money they give to the government will not go to the private sector.

Who elected that idiot!

As a percentage of their income I can assure you the poor pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes.

School/property taxes
cigarettes & Other Sin Taxes
Sales Taxes
Gasonline and other fuels

Rev,

I thought Obama has runaway government spending and that spending is all going out into the economy of the US. So, your taxes are going right back out. Otherwise we wouldn't have a defecit.

Again,

I reiterate what I wrote elsewhere. The rich must be absolutely broke after paying all those taxes. Nothing left!! I am beginning to understand your frustration, you make $250,000 per year and you can't afford to do anything. I better vote for Palin next time.

In a nutshell I truly believe over time a lot of the tax burden is purely inflationary and is factored into earnings. If today the gov't dropped SS & Medicare tax, I can asssure you we would probably slowly drop our hourly rates here to accomodate. The demand for higher wages would go down because of less tax. Unquestionably the rich have gotten richer in my lifetime and the numbers are now staggering, all on the backs of the workers of this country who now watch the ships pull in full of containers with goods that they once got paid to manufacture.

Heck, about 48% of Americans pay NO Federal income taxes.

tax the hell out of them!

the united healthcare ceo made I think 110million last year, and something like 750million in the last 5 years.

I'm not talking about taxing hardworking americans making 250k.

What is rich? I love when they ask this question on the stock channel, some say middle class is up to 5million/yr? some say 500k/yr?

Also if corporations actually paid true taxes, we could actually lower tax rates and collect more money from the same company.

you can tax the rich 100% but that only gets you something like 100 billion+/-. It aint that much when your purposely running 1.5 trillion dollar deficits and adding to it. The best way for us to pull out of this deep hole is to lift all restrictions on drilling and begin drilling.
