Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default They want more of your money...

Heard this on the radio this a.m.... The leftists are proposing a tax on all stock/futures/credit swap/ etc., etc., etc. transactions. They propose to take in roughly $150 Billion per year from this tax and ship the funds off to developing nations.

And, the EPA has decided that CO2 is harmful to humans. Really? I don't think so. I've been breathing the stuff for 50+ years without a single ill effect. The Leftists are simply laying the groundwork for massive new regulation and, of course, new fees, fines, penalties, and taxes payable from the private sector to the government. Money and power. That's all that it's about. And, Obama can now go to the Climate Meetings and sign away our sovereignty...

Here's a novel new plan to reduce CO2 emissions. As we all know from biology class, CO2 is a byproduct of respiration. All of you Leftists who believe human produced CO2 is going to cause the destruction of the planet and the end of life as we know it... Stop breathing. Use whatever means necessary. I hear that sticking a loaded shotgun in your mouth and pulling the trigger will do the trick. It seems to have worked for Kurt Cobain. He hasn't produced ANY CO2 since. If about 50 Million of you clowns did this, think of the CO2 savings! Come on all you Global Warming freaks. Man up! Put your money where your mouth is. Off yourself. You won't produce any more CO2 and the planet will be a better place.

This paves the way for a breathing tax, a parent tax for creating little carbon footprints, etc. At the very least, you can expect to pay more for everything produced. What ticks me off most is that even if you buy into the global warming scam, there is no evidence that money spend on CO2 reduction will have even a measurable impact! How's that for cost/benefit analysis? Clearly, this administration won't be bothered by such irrelevant analysis, as evidenced in the fact that the cost per stimulus job is over $200k and Obama is even now looking to spend our way out of bankruptcy via pumping in even more stimulus debt to be paid back, plus interest.

ipscshooter: You are an attorney. To date, to my knowledge, there really hasn't been any actual impact of the anthropogenic global warming hysteria, but it looks like this may change soon ((1) Cap and Trade legislation, (2), EPA declaring CO2 emissions harmful to human beings and regulations of same yet to come, (3) possible committments of Obama that bypass Senate treaty ratification authority under the constitution). When this starts costing business big $$$, the pain becomes sufficient to justify spending some money fighting these things in court.

Are there grounds for legal challenges by those with the deep pockets to be able to fight this out in court?

I'm don't practice environmental law, so I'm not conversant in the practices and procedures for challenging rules and regulations promulgated by the EPA. My practice is primarily focused on transactions, M&A, contracts, etc. I regularly advise folks to get Environmental Site Assessments when acquiring commercial properties, but, that's pretty much the extent of my environmental practice. I wish I could answer your question. Appears to be an area where there may soon be a lot of business...

So those of us who are fat and tend to breath heavier, as I am and do, and those of us who have a lot of little carbon footprints, as I do, are screwed....

how about we just eliminate all the methane producing animals in the world. That should really help eliminate the global warming problem.
