Default Huckabee's Pardons in Perspective

So far two violent criminals who were released as a result of Huckabee meddling have gone on to murder folks. In the eight year period 1996-2004 governor Huckabee issued more commutations and pardons than all of the six neighboring states combined.

Then the criminal coddling idiot had the audacity to assume that folks would elect him president of the USA.

___If you're wondering how Gov. Huckabee's hundreds of clemencies compare with neighboring states, get ready for a shocker.
___ Huckabee leads the pack.
___ He has issued more commutations and pardons than all of the six neighboring states combined.

.......................................

Here are the figures for neighboring states since 1996, when Huckabee took office (and keep in mind the population of these states is nearly 20 times ours):
___ >> Louisiana – 213.
___ >> Mississippi – 24.
___ >> Missouri – 79.
___ >> Oklahoma – 178.
___ >> Tennessee – 32.
___ >> Texas – 98 (in-cludes 36 inmates released because they were convicted on drug charges with planted evidence).
___ Total: 624 vs. Huckabee's 703.

___ Governors in neighboring states almost never grant killers clemency, while Huckabee has commuted the sentences of a dozen murderers.
___ "That is extremely rare here," said one corrections official in a neighboring state.
___ She recalled one case in the early 1990s when the governor commuted a killer's sentence and none since then.
___ In Texas, we could find only one clemency case for a killer.

I agree with you that he was too ready to commute sentences, but, isn't that something you'd expect from a former minister whose religious beliefs likely place some emphasis the importance of the concepts of redemption and forgiveness?

At least he did it to give them a second chance...they are going to start releasing them here since they don't have enough money to keep them...

Touche!!!!

However, IMO: Huckabee is a very naive country preacher who talks a good line about crime and punishment after he gave pardons to 12 murderers against the advice of staff, prosecutors and judges.

It was a church in Iowa that called Mitt Romney's attention to Huckabee's pardons in the runup to the Republican primary. The church cited the case of another Huckabbe releasee named Du Mont/d who went on to rape and murder a lady.

Yep, another Huckabbe apologist speaks up. Show me where "they" were going to start releasing murderers.

I believe I opposed her because I'm very concerned about her position on gun control. I guess we'll find out whether I was right shortly... I was also concerned that she seemed to think that a wise Latina woman will reach the right decision more often than a bunch of stupid old white guys.

That's her full qoute. She does scare me when it come to gun control, but she replaced the same vote.

We really need to worry if a conservative judge decides to retire, and Obama is still POTUS.

Looks like Huck, took this guys "I'm a changed man line, all the way down his throat" as well as 700 others.

I still don't have a problem with the commute of sentence. I take issue with locking up someone so young for life. So far, if you look at what has come out, there were many issues that have sprang up since his early release that should have been addressed before trhis incident. The question I have is what was this kid's child life? Was he a product of an unwed mother? Was his family on welfare? I want to know if if the answers are yes. If that's true, I pin the earliest blame on the liberal system that incubates criminals like him. When the majority of those locked up come from unwed mothers, it's time to deal with that first by cutting off now and promote adoption.
