Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Karzai Says Afghan Army Ready in Five Years

Hamad Karzai says that the Afghan army will be able to "take the lead" in securing the country in five years. Then Karzai contradicted that statment when he said that the Afghan army will take over the unstable areas in three years.

i've got news for this idiot: He ain't got five years. The US public will not put up with the Afghan war for five more years.

Quote:
"We are determined that by the next five years, Afghan forces are capable of taking the lead in ensuring security and stability across the country," Karzai said. He said Afghanistan's security forces should be able to assume responsibility of unstable areas in three years.

U.S. officials say Afghan forces must be able to take over security across the country before foreign troops can leave. There are nearly 110,000 foreign troops in Afghanistan, including 68,000 Americans, more than half arriving this year.

As soon as we leave A-Stan, it will fall back into Taliban hands. Hell, we won't win, and the Afghan government first needs to actually take control! They'll be ready in the next 100 years at least.

I guess it's pretty "A" typical not to have a standing army in just a few years. I guess even America was "A" Typical. After all, it only took America a few decades before we had a unified standing army.

FYI, Afghanistan wasn't always a waring place. There is no reason it can't return back to a peaceful place however, you don't get there by cutting and running like in Veit Nam. How'd that work out?

My big question is; We have a President radically trying to change America into a socialist society by forcing major leglislation down our throats, Tarp1, Tarp2, Stimulas 1 potential stimulas 2, governmnet run healthcare, Cap and Tax and Amenisty, all got to be done right away. Where is the decision on troops his hand picked general requested? We going on 90 days, soldiers are in battle needing to be backed to the hilt. Yet, this president "A Constitutional Scholar" can't make a constitutional decision. Instead he finds time to joy ride in Air Force One over to Aisa for a mini vacation. He is a deer in head lights.

Bring them home. What does Afghanistan offer to us? We have enough problem right here in the US and don't need to be involved in a civil war. The money and lives we are wasting there is criminal.

It was a political war much like Afghanistan. We couldn't win that one because of the way we were forced to fight. It took years spanning a few presidents and over 50,000 american lives before we finally were able to get out of that quagmire. History is repeating itself and apparently we didn't learn the first time.

None if it matters to me, if it's not Afghanistan, it's Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Egypt.... there will never be peace in the Middle East! Afghanistan is just at the forefront of the turmoil.

So because we are so interested in the Middle east for some reason. It can't be that we like them or they like us. Mutual hatred comes to mind. I can only assume it is just about the oil. I wonder why we don't just get all our oil here in the states. We have plenty that we don't even tap into.

He is not blind. He needs only look at Iraq to see the money we will pour into his nation. The longer we stay, the more money we will give them.

In such dire economic times I wonder how we continue to pour money down that rat hole of a middle east. The ironic part of it all is that the money we spend often goes to the enemy we are fighting. So the libs win the majority of the congress and their token gets the POTUS. Nothing changed from the war perspective. Still tax payer money being pumped into a PC mission reminiscent of past mistakes. IMO Obama is worse than an empty suit. His campaign platform was formed on getting the troops home. What he left out was that they would be briefly rested and then shipped out to a worse quagmire. What they have is civil war. We have no business being there.
