Am I reading this article correctly? Reid is proposing a healthcare bill estimated to cost $849 Billion and provide healthcare for approximately 31 million people. I did the math and am coming up with over $27,000 per person. This is almost double what healthcare is currently going for. Why is this coverage so expensive and why are we (the taxpayers) footing the bill for another overpriced government spending item?
WASHINGTON – Setting up a historic year-end debate, Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid unveiled his long-awaited version of legislation to reshape the nation's health care system Wednesday night, a measure designed to extend coverage to 94 percent of eligible Americans and bar private industry from denying insurance because of pre-existing medical conditions.
"Tonight begins the last leg of this journey," said the Nevada Democrat, less than two weeks after the House approved its version — and nearly 10 months after President Barack Obama's Inauguration Day summons to action.
Reid's Senate measure would require most Americans to carry health insurance and would provide hundreds of billions of dollars in subsidies to help those at lower incomes afford it. It also would mandate that large companies to provide coverage to their workers.

By the time they get it passed, the number covered will probably be more like 47 million, because they'll figure a way to include all the illigals in there some how. After all, they're people too and they need more free stuff givin' to them because they come here and work, doing the jobs that Americans are too lazy to do, so we need incentive to keep them around!!!!!

Unless the medical professionals (IE: emergency rooms) are going to be ID-ing the illegals, refusing services and calling INS on them then they are already included. They have been included for decades.

Any program the government is behind costs more. Add up all the new government jobs needed to run the program and the cost goes way up. Lots of people sitting around thinking of new ways to add to the corruption and power within the government. Safety in numbers.

I thought that only about 40 million were uninsured according to the dems?????? Then take away the illegals and you only have about 28 million.
The vast majority of Americans are insured and happy with their current plan and don't want the government involved. Lets screw up the health insurance of 275 million people so you can gain the votes of 30 million.
A B1 was about $285 million. A B2 stealth is about $740 million.
