Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Smile He did the right thing and quit

The Justice of the Peace who was refusing to marry interracial couples has restored Louisiana government to respectability by resigning.

He should have done it years ago

He and his wife were being sued. I wonder if that speeded up his decision.

It should be easy to find a judge with no morals, no convictions, and crooked as hell to take his place. This should restore Louisiana back to respectability with the rest of the states.

At least LA will then be on an even keel with the Northern states, and gain their respect.

I fail to see where promoting discrimination on the basis of race lends respectibility.

You ever see that episode of COPS where the redneck beat up his wife and then went out to his car and fell asleep?

"Why my rights bein' readin'? I did the right thing! She was wrong! I did the right thing!"

"I know you're gonna pepper-gas me."

I never said it did--but that wasn't the cause of the outrage, right? It was because the judge wasn't performing his duties properly........wasn't it?

That judge should have learned from his Yankee brethren than you can only get away with descriminating against white male heterosexuals, preferably religious Conservatives.

"That" episode? I thought that was on all of them?

Funny thing....some of the reddest necks I ever saw came from MI--shared a hunt with a few of them in Canada several years ago. Dang good fellers--one of the best hunts of my life. No doubt at least one of them will die shortly after saying "Hey--hold my beer and watch this!".

No Chad, it went beyond that. Not performing his duties properly could be anything, sleeping on the job, going fishing instead of working, delegating his duties, etc. The controversy arose because he was refusing to officiate at interracial marriages because of the race of one of the parties.

There are plenty of racists in Michigan just as there are in other states. But we don't permit judges to discriminate on the basis of race here and, evidently, they don't permit it in Louisiana either. Three cheers for Louisiana.

Black sheep/White sheep Why would anyone care?

We have a "wise Latina" Supreme Court justice who feel race should influence decisions...

We're headed in the wrong direction here. In Liberalism, discrimination is fine if it's politically correct discrimination. These people are going to get bitten on the butt when the pendulum swings the other way.

We traditionalists need to guard against becoming too tolerant.

Black Sheep/White Sheep - Who Cares? Just say "No" to polyester
