Remember the analog to digital TV conversion thread?
I have to follow this one up tonight. I'm just finishing my duty at the National Society of Cable Telecomunications Engineer Show. All I can say is WOW. I remember going head to head with Nodog why forcing the local TV broadcasters to go digital instead of analog not only frees up wasted bandwidth but it also means new and improve services are coming our way. Not to mention higher royalties fees for leasing public owned airways. Now we're less than 1/2 year out from the conversion and I got my first taste of in home 3D that's coming from Panasonic. It was awesome and it's capable over the air from your local TV station.
They are promoting the videoing of sporting events with two cameras side by side in order to produce the same image your eyes produce if your watching it live. The cable/sat/local TV will send both videos in 1080P to your new home TV. Inside your home you'll have the same looking TV with an inferad device that tells the eyewear 60 times/sec/lens to close off any light from getting through. This gives you the perspective of 3D and it's a great improvement over the light polarization trick they did in the past. It's a better picture. It was like you were seeing the picture before you in a fish bowl setting. This might not the best description, still need to see more to get my hands around what I saw. What I can say it was awesome to look at and it will be coming to a home near you!

It's the trend... We are phasing out the old film projectors in all our theaters and replacing with digitals, giving us the freedom to show all the 3D movies.
