Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Stimulus jobs overstated

Imagine that...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091029/..._stimulus_jobs

Quote:
• A company working with the Federal Communications Commission reported that stimulus money paid for 4,231 jobs, when about 1,000 were produced.
• A Georgia community college reported creating 280 jobs with recovery money, but none was created from stimulus spending.
• A Florida child care center said its stimulus money saved 129 jobs but used the money on raises for existing employees.

But, please, let's not let the truth get in the way of our defense of a trillion-dollar spending backage.

The system has been dealt a rabbit punch, it is down to its knees on the canvas. Not out cold yet, just stunned, and seeing stars. The wrong people are in charge now and we have to get back to our feet and into the fight again. The situation will not improve until there is new leadership, or we will continue to keep going further down this path. It has gotten to the point where I care little about myself and Iam more concerned for my kids and their families. Its all about them now. Iam too old to matter any longer.

Simple Economics

Money goes into the system, we rebuild every bridge in the country. People get paid, concrete gets mined and manufactured. Steel gets made and purchased. Every person in that line of work is taxed when they get paid or sell their products. Every one of those people now have a few mre bucks than they used to, they go to WM or the car lot and spend money and those business grow and profit and pay more taxes to the US.

Simple - it WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's called an economy

No suprise that GDP has grown in the 3rd quarter. Also remember the GDP growth is about 100x more than the actual stimulus dollars spent.

Thank you OBAMA

If it were really that simple. Now what happens when that money is gone??? Where is the long term in this plan? Its great to stimulate on the short term, but what long term, tangible products are going to increase future growth? Government jobs are not long term tax revenue jobs.

Yikes. Dow down 250. But but but, there was a 3.2% increase in the GDP last quarter. Where are the jobs? Whats going on with the rest of that 756B that we borrowed on hands and knees from our new buddy China? Come on, spend it all. Lets party! Its not like we are going to be able to pay it back or anything. I mean our National Debt is over 100 Trillion. So hey. I think I,ll go out back and knock the dust of my forge, I might be able to pick up a few bucks hammering out leaf springs for Ford Trucks or something in the future.

It is worse than that. Not only does the pipe run dry after the stimulus money is spent, an important question is are we getting $1 of value for $1 of stimulus money spent? "Oh boy, we put some money into infrastructure, that's good, isn't it?!!!" It depends on whether we needed that particular infrastructure.

I got back from a successful elk hunting trip to Durango a couple weeks back. While in Durango, I saw an expensive looking overpass going over about 6 lanes of traffic (state highway 160: 3 lanes westbound, 3 lanes eastbound) that ran smackdab into a mountain side. A large sign says this construction is being paid for by some portion of the stimulus package. I asked my Durango host what this construction project was that ran the road straight into the side of the mountain. His telling comment was "it's a 'bridge to nowhere.' " I prodded a bit more, and he said it doesn't connect up with anything else, that the other connecting roads aren't there yet. Looking around at the local disposition of lands, residences, and businesses it was apparent to me that this overpass was built to provide service to a speculative future need. A very dubious infrastructure investment in my opinion.

Great, spend my tax dollars to pay construction workers to build stuff that we don't need. I'm not seein' the value in that.

Katie Couric talked about the Administrations claims on this and what other's say are the real numbers last night.I was shocked she actually covered this one accurately from both sides.Maybe the ultra biased main stream media tide is finally turning for Obama.Thank God!!!

I did some figureing. The 800 billon they say will be spent in the end of it divided by the 1 million jobs that are or will be come from it. You get 800000000000/1000000= 800000 per job. Thats right 800,000 per job. Dam heck just give me 400k i will sit on my A** for a few years without food stamps and welfar and you can keep the other 400k. Heck i just saved them half a trillion dollars. I think i should get 2 trillion for it
