The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned a verdict against the crazy Kansas "church" that protests at the funerals of GIs killed in combat. Most of the members of this so called "church" are one extended family, many of whom are lawyers.
Some veterans group should should exercise their right to beat the crap out of this bunch the next time they interrupt a military funeral.
The ruling from the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Va., held that the signs and writings of the Westboro Baptist Church, which included anti-gay and anti-military messages, are protected by the First Amendment. The Topeka-based congregation has protested at military funerals across the country
"Notwithstanding the distasteful and repugnant nature of the words being challenged in these proceedings, we are constrained to conclude that the defendants' signs and [what it has on its Web sites] are constitutionally protected," Circuit Court Judge Robert B. King wrote in the majority opinion.
That's BS. In my opinion, that is not Constitutionaly protected speech. If it incited a riot, it would be considered a crime. How is it a protected right?

Well they just haven't interrupted the right funeral yet... If it were one of my sons, I guarantee it would be their last!
Dang right! Some things are worth going to jail over and this would be one of them.

Supposedly, you can have time and place restrictions on freedom of speech. I don't see why you couldn't ban demonstrations at a funeral.
We need to get some control over our judicial system. They seem to feel that they have the right to distort the Constitution according to their own opinions.
We're just sheep but we think a Constitutional amendment giving Congress the power to overrule the Supreme Court would be a terrific start You humans need to put a leash and choke collar on the judicial system

That's why these guys formed. http://www.patriotguard.org/
They protect the funerals with a line of flags, & when the scumbags start making noise, all the riders rev up their bikes to shut the idiots up.
My son & his best friend actually had these guys ride them to the recruitment processing center the day they joined the USAF.

Guys, in all seriousness, I've dealt with the Rev. Phelps crowd before. They are DYING for one of you to take a swing at them for propaganda and civil (damages) lawsuit purposes. They know that their message falls on deaf ears, otherwise. They're just baiting us to do something.
Fortunately, folks like the Patriot Guard do our fallen veterans a huge service. I have not lately seen Rev. Phred's Phollowers at any event the Patriot Guard has called out its membership to support.
