Iran Test Fires 2 Short-Range Missiles

Sunday, September 27, 2009
AP

Nov. 12: Image taken at an undisclosed location in Iran, shows a missile test fire by Iranian armed forces.

Iran said it successfully test fired two short-range missiles during drills Sunday by the elite Revolutionary Guard, a show of force days after the U.S. and its allies condemned Tehran over a newly revealed underground nuclear facility that was being constructed secretly.
English-language Press TV reported that the solid-fuel Fateh-110, Tondar-69 and Zelzal missiles were test fired, but did not give specifics on range or other details. Both are short-range, surface-to-surface missiles.
Gen. Hossein Salami, head of the Revolutionary Guard Air Force, told reporters Iran tested for the first time a multiple missile launcher. Press TV showed pictures of at least two missiles being fired simultaneously and said they were from the latest drill.
Salami said the missile tests and military drills were meant to show Iran's strong resolve to defend its national values. The Revolutionary Guard controls Iran's missile program.
Reuters reported state radio as also saying Sunday that Tehran would test-fire a missile Monday capable of hitting Israel and U.S. bases in the Gulf region.
The tests came two days after Western intelligence officials and diplomats disclosed that Iran had been secretly developing a previously unknown underground uranium enrichment facility. The site in the arid mountains near the holy city of Qom is believed to be inside a heavily guarded, underground facility belonging to the Revolutionary Guard, according to a document sent by President Barack Obama's administration to lawmakers.

The talk of Israel bombing Iran makes me laugh. For one, they always say they will but they never do. Second, they couldn't finish the job in Palestine, the won't do anything to Iran.

I suppose time will tell. Iran is a threat to Israeli survival. Palestine is quite another matter. Even the most docile of animals will fight when backed into a corner where their survival is at stake. We sall see....and probably very soon now.

Hmm....guess you don’t know about Israel’s airstrike on Iraq's Osirak nuclear facility in 1981......and most recently...the 6 Sep '07 airstrike on the Syrian nuclear reactor capable of producing enriched "nuclear weapons grade” plutonium.

Israel has brass balls...they WILL always protect themselves and don’t give a hoot about international opinion.

I can't say that I could blame them if they decided to attack Iran! I can not see them waiting for Iran to nuke them just because the crazy one doesn't think they should exist..

You have to remember that the only reason Isreal has not unleashed their dogs of war is that we've always been able to restrain them.

With our current POTUS, I'm not sure they will care what we have to say. He's been insulting them since he took office. At the very least, I could surmise that they don't have much confidence in the U.S. supporting or protecting them much more. With that, why would they not strike? They stand to lose much more by waiting than us "sternly" speaking out against a strike.

Youre lack of knowledge on Israels will to defend themselves and strike first makes me laugh. If theres 1 country that rattles their sabers and then backs that up with an ass whoopin instead of harsh talk and sanctions, its them.

They are surrounded by countries that hate them. They dont have time for threats and they take them very seriously. Go look up how many of their neighbors asses they have kicked, you might be surpised.

Absolutely. Not finishing the job in Palastine is not an arguement against Israel's commitment to survival.

Take the advice and do a little search of history and you will see how many times Isreal has defended itself successfully. They never had an interest in an all out war. And we've successfully restrained them when it came close. Now that we don't seem to be their best friends anymore, they have no interest in restraining themselves. If they perceive an iminant threat to their safety/survival, they will indeed kick ass.

Just hope our POTUS does the right thing and backs them up. If not, it could be a long hard road for all of us.
