So called US congressman Bobby Rush introduces his insane gun control bill every year. Rush is a convicted felon who went AWOL from the Army and co-founded the Chicago Black Panthers. The sorry political pukes in DC forced the Army to give Rush an honorable discharge.

In 1968 Rush went AWOL from the U.S. Army, co-founded the state's Black Panther Party and later was honorably discharged. [1] The following year he served six months in prison for illegal possession of firearms.[2]

Unless the search results are bad, it looks like this is his first gun bill. I wonder if he is feeling some political capital this cycle, since another Chicago Democrat is in power.

Rush's 29-year-old son, Huey, was murdered by alleged robbers in front of his South Side home in October of 1999. Rush was devastated by his son's death. "I always thought it was going to be me who wouldn't get to 30," he told People. He stepped up his legislative efforts in favor of handgun control, telling the People that "I'm committed to making sure that his life was not given in vain." Rush has sponsored or co-sponsored over 30 gun-control measures in Congress. After running for mayor and facing publicity over past unpaid taxes, he attracted opposition in the Democratic primary of April 2000, but triumphed over two opponents. "I'm going to get back to work," Rush told Jet. "We've got a lot we have to accomplish in these next few days, next few weeks, few months, few years."

Bobby Rush floats this balloon every year, & every year he gets little or no support. I would say that we have something to worry about with Barry in the POTUS office, but Barry & Bobby were never friends, & often fought eachother within the Chicago machine. I believe Bobby was Barry's opponent in the 2004 senate primary...

No, it's not anything to worry about just yet. It'll probably die in subcommittee, even though it is overwhelmingly anti-gun by just about anyone's measurement.

Democrats are startled enough as it is over the healthcare debate. Gun control would be suicide for them in many purple districts.
