Yep, the feds can seize your laptop when you come back into the US from abroad. i know a retired Army officer whose lap top was seized over one year ago and he never got it back.

Bet that they do not seize any laptops from Arabs coming into the US.

Way to go DC political pukes.

The big change is that it states owners should normally be present during any laptop search and that equipment should be returned quickly. But, as Ars Technica notes, there are numerous and vague exceptions to all of this, with exemptions granted for national security issues (why else would they search the laptop in the first place?) and for whatever "circumstances of the matter" the agency feels appropriate.

Sometimes I wish someone would seize my laptop...and my cell phone and above all my alarm clock. Just leave me my bow and my musky rods, a few catfishing poles and some chicken guts and a stout net.
