18 years in twisted captivity. What do we do with these people who do this stuff? How can that woman and her kids ever be normal again? Sad.

I also noted that the news was referring to customers of the wacko's printing business as "his business associates." I'm not sure I'd be to pleased if I had simply ordered business cards from this guy and was later considered a "business associate." Semantics I guess, but I wonder how many people would presume he was your long time partner of some type.

It sad to say, but her life is ruined. I dont see how anyone could overcome such a thing. It is heartbreaking.

Very heartbreaking but I wouldn't say her life is ruined. That sounds too much like giving up. She's lost a lot of her life but she's only 30 now. With enough support, love and prayer, she will hopefully be able to live a normal life and raise her children. She'll never forget about the trauma obviously, but that doesn't mean there's no hope for her to enjoy the rest of her life.

I agree though, Kevin1 is being too soft on her abductors. I don't think they make a smilie that would signify what they deserve.

The system really failed on this one. A known sex offender and after all the surprise visits by his parole officer nobody looks in his back yard...especially after complaints about people and tents back there were made. It sounds like this guys wife was part of it which is really weird.

This is just more evidence that certain sex offenders should just have their junk cut off, and then they should be dropped on an island somewhere.

Not much chance of being normal for any of the 3 girls. There will probably be lots more that comes out on this one. None of those children ever went to school or to a doctor. That perv brainwashed them all so bad that they liked him and called him Dad.

The scumbag was sentenced to 50 years in federal prison for kidnapping and raping a lady. He was released from federal prison after 10 years. Then Garrido served five years in NV prison on the same charge. What a sweetheart deal.

The feds picked the scumbag up for a parole violation and gave him another few months in prison.

The girls' stepdad witnessed the kidnapping. A car matching the description of the one used in the kidnapping was found in the scumbags yard. The stepdad was a long time suspect in the disappearance of the girl. Fine police work on this one.

The deputy who answered the neighbors complaint did not check the sex offender's registry. The sheriff apologized for this one. The scumbag is on lifetime parole: The parole officers never really checked the premises.

The perp was reported to authorities when two female UC Berkelely campus cops became suspicious of two young girls distributing religious material on campus.
