Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Thumbs up The Counter-Town Hall

New GOP tactic: The counter-town hall

Quote:
If nothing else, the counter-town halls have succeeded in one important way — they’ve been effective in fostering the impression that some Democratic incumbents are reluctant to meet with the public.

Each of us can capitalize on this by attending these "counter-town halls", if possible, in our respective areas. I'm not much of a street protester, but these town halls have been a superb venue for citizens to offer opinions and air grievances in front Members of Congress, the President, and millions of our countrymen. It's been unruly at times, but passion is a good thing for us now and again.

I encourage everyone to spend an hour or two down there in order to keep up the momentum. It's still a long way to 2010.

I went to the town Hall meeting here a couple nights ago Senator Dorgan was there. He listened to everyone but was darn short of answers. Conrad is our other Senator.

Well, Senator Dorgan is Chairman of the Democratic Policy Committee. He's also up for reelection in 2010. Considering that he supports government health insurance, if not the main reform bill currently in the House, do you think he'll get another term? He's the junior senator and a third-term incumbent, but you may smell some local weakness better than I.

I saw him in a hearing earlier in the summer. I have a habit of making thousand-yard stares as I listen to people who have my full attention, such as professors and politicians, and it causes some alarm on occasion. He kind of looked at me startled but shrugged it off and avoided eye contact after that. I had Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) totally freaked, though. Felt kind of bad because it was interesting stuff they were discussing.
