Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Good for Angela. She has her rights too! I wouldn't drive that bus either, and good for DART for taking off the adds.

Think about it a minute folks. You're opening a real can of worms if you allow drivers to decide that they can't drive a bus because of an ad on the bus. This issue has nothing to do with religion.

They should ban ads for polyester

If the ACLU is trying to eliminate all religious activity, why then are the atheists allowed to get their way. Atheism is a religion too! Are they picking what religion is tolerated?

You can damn well bet that if she was a Muslim and refused to drive the bus on the grounds that it violated her religious beliefs they would be bending over backwards to satisfy her.

As I pointed out, this has absolutely nothing to do with religion. A bus company cannot allow drivers to decide not to drive a bus because they don't like the ads on the bus. It would create a completely unworkable system. It's a complete no-brainer. She refuses to drive a bus, unless the bus is unsafe to drive, she gets fired. End of problem. End of discussion.

No Border Collie ads please

You make a good point. They get around promoting their belief system the same way evolutionists do--by proclaiming their belief system isn't a religion. It's easy to prove otherwise, but it seems as long as there is no mention of God, they get a free pass.

On the other hand, I'm not convinced of the driver's motivation. Will she refuse to drive on a street that has ads for a strip joint, abortion clinic, etc.? If she was working in a resturant that didn't serve alchohol when she was hired, but later changed over, would she refuse to serve customers who ordered alchohol?

If she actually is refusing to drive because of real convictions, I respect and admire that. However, I would have to side with the company that owns the bus. She agreed to drive, and unless there's a specification in her contract, she should drive or quit. Employees shouldn't be able to control the business.

It might not be a good idea because it might reduce the number of responses to a thread. But I'm wondering if a Truth In Thread Posting rule would be a good idea.

For example, this thread really shouln't be titled, "Woman suspended for religious beliefs." An accurate title would have been, "Bus driver supended for refusing to drive bus."

Not as dramatic perhaps, but more accurate

Are you challenging VC for the title of "Wannabe Archbishop of HNI"?
