Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default CMA acknowledges that the Canadian Healthcare system is failing

The incoming president of the CMA acknowledges that the Canadian healthcare system is unsustainable and is in worse shape than the Canadian Citizens realize.

This is what Obama and the liberals want to force on us.

well it is not all doom and gloom, if one visits the cma.ca web site you can view news and bulletins...here's a couple of links.

http://www.cma.ca/index.cfm/ci_id/10043349/la_id/1.htm

CMA President Robert Ouellet said results from the 2009 Report Card carry a clear message. "Governments have ignored tackling the tough issues facing our health care system," he said. "There is a mistaken impression that health care is somehow insulated from today's harsh economic realities. Our polling results show that's just not the case."

Polling for the 2009 Report Card also included questions on respondents' personal health, with 79% rating their health as excellent (10%), very good (31%) or good (38%). Sixteen percent gave themselves a fair grade, and 4% said their health is poor.

...Also this is just an association, not government body...

At the CMA
our product is advocacy on behalf of physicians and their
patients, and our strength is the 170 people who do this

work and the 70 000 members who make it possible.”

Ontario physicians have selected Ottawa internist Dr. Jeff Turnbull as their
nominee to become president-elect of the CMA in 2009-10. If the nomination
is endorsed by General Council during the CMA annual meeting in
Saskatoon this August, Turnbull will serve as president-elect until he assumes

the presidency during the 2010 annual meeting in Niagara Falls, Ont.

Also I am not sure but the cma.ca's web site shows a different president...

FM has a point, why the heck is change being forced upon everyone down there?

300 + million people with access to health care, greatest hospitals and medical practictioners the world has ever seen....yet someone decided that wasn't good enough?

you and i have been through this before, on a recent thread, that went on for over a dozen pages. no one in that thread portrayed the canadian system as perfect. the fact remains however that they spend less money than we do.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...rticle1253871/

significant to me is the fact that they are considering a public/private mix, similar to what was proposed in the original health choices bill. moreover, there is no discussion of adopting a system modeled after ours:

"“Canada's doctors are not opposed to medicare, [and neither of my predecessors was opposed to medicare by the way.] We don't want a health system where people can be beggared, crippled and bankrupted by medical expenses. That is anathema to Canadian physicians."

In the province of Ontario, pop:11.5 million...it costs us about 4.77 per person per day for health care. Just under 1800.00 a year....when we are employed...lol...Health Insurance coverage sometimes advocates sending canuckie patients to the usa for faster specialist care and cheaper specialist care ( in the long run )....so if the doctor is on board and the patient needs it...it's off to the usa we go...been going on for years, which is why we want two-tier health care.

Now health costs per person would differ in the province of saskatchewan because there are only 1 million + people there, the government picks up the tab mostly anyway yet we in Ontario do not carry their load.

Well while we're noticing. Who spends more on what, Cnanda or USA?

Military?
Welfare?
Education?
Food Stamps?
Public Housing?
Public defenders?
Prison?
EPA Regulations?
Endangered Species?
