Default in cyberspace

where do we go when we die.

I mean seriously. this is an entirely new social medium, and in many respects it fits the defintiion of "community". this forum has aptly been described as "the saloon" in the past, and it's a very appropriate description.

so again, what happens when we die?

there have been many regular contributors this forum over the years, who have basically up and vanished:

tazman
iffered
tardfarmerer
mountainhunter
bengarret
aught six

where are they? some, like Iff, i believe where banned, and like moses, had their name stricken from the records. what happened to the others? did they die? lose their broadband? lose their interest?

You head off to that happy messageboard in the sky, of course. Where the moderators don't have a delete button and every computer is a Mac.

The stinkin' liberals, of course, are forced to wander for 40 years in purgatory where all the computers are Compaqs and the only Internet access is dial-up and the only websites that aren't filtered are FreeRepublic.Com and the Drudge Report.

Could some of them have changed names? If Tardfarmer could go from FNG to Tardfarmer, maybe he changed again. Maybe some of them came back trapped as some of the many alter-egos of Stealthycat.

Most probably just got bored with it and decided to spend their time doing something else. Ifferd was on the member list for the longest time just frozen at 5332 posts or something close to that and now since the latest dump has vanished. Tard/ FNG hasn't been back to my knowledge and even Stealthy with all his children has become scarce. Not sure where Ben Garrett is but I really doubt that he was banned. Too good a poster and certainly a voice of reason. Hell even VC rarely comes here anymore other than an occasional skirmish with FM. I saw a post from FNG but it was an archived thread about black faced students from 2002 brought to life by another member for some reason. It got me excited for a brief time before I realized it was an oldie and tard wasn’t back and as a guess won’t be.

I would say a year putting up with some of the posts on here is the equivalent of two years of visiting FreeRepublic every day.

But I suspect you aren't really a liberal. You own a gun, hunt, and talk sense (sometimes). Everyone knows liberals don't do any of those things.

Or was it that they shouldn't be allowed to do any of those things?

Smile Now that you mentioned it,

haven't seen Stealthycat here lately. Maybe he's out tending his weed plot.

Talking about weed, there is some great music on the radio today. Sounds like they're playing an entire Grateful Dead album right now. I can't recognize them, but my husband tells me what all the songs are. It's no wonder that the Grateful Dead were so highly thought of. Beautiful stuff.

Out of this group (tazman, iffered, tardfarmerer, mountainhunter, bengarret & aught six), only tardfarmer (formerly FNG) and iffered are no longer listed as members. All of the other members are still listed as being members.

I know tardfarmer was originally banned as fng but don't know if he got banned as tardfarmer or just deleted his account. I emailed back and forth with him for a while and I do know he decided of his own volition not to post here anymore. He is missed. Stealthycat, on the other hand, will always be with us in one or another new screen name.

It should be criminal that he lost the stealthycat logo again. Nothing wrong with an alias or two but when you lose the flagship name that is just plain wrong. They didn't ban the person they banned the name. Sounds like HNI of old.
