Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Russian Subs Patrolling Off East Coast of U.S

WASHINGTON — A pair of nuclear-powered Russian attack submarines has been patrolling off the eastern seaboard of the United States in recent days, a rare mission that has raised concerns inside the Pentagon and intelligence agencies about a more assertive stance by the Russian military.

Russian subs have been patrolling off both coasts and the Gulf of Mexico since the start of the Cold War. My Navy unit was a helicopter antisubmarine squadron, we used to detect boomers all the time wherever we went. Once one was "targeted" the pilot would drop a small explosive device to let the sub commander know that the game was over and it was time to leave. We referred to that as "diplomacy".

This is a non-story.
Soviet/Russian subs have been off the US coast since the Cold War.

Just like our subs which are always lurking off their shores. Nothing new here.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090813...tarysubmarines

"They're in international waters" in the North Atlantic, a spokesman for Canadian Defense Minister Peter MacKay, told AFP. "They're allowed to be there. But our job is to ensure that our coastal perimeter and waters are respected."

The Pentagon last week said one of the two Russian nuclear-powered Akula class vessels had been parked in international waters some 200 miles (320 kilometers) off the US coast. The exact location of the other was unclear.

US officials said their presence was not cause for concern and they posed no threat to the United States.

The episode, however, echoed the cat-and-mouse maneuvers of the Soviet and US militaries during the Cold War when Moscow and Washington routinely used submarines to gather intelligence and track each other's fleet movements

non issue. My captain (Tuttle) on the JFK wanted to sail into the Black Sea, considered a Russian Pond and he was vetoed. They play like tat all the time, heck we shot moons at the Russian trawlers that shadowed us in the Med and almost put one under when it got in the way trying to disrupt flight operations. If someone wants to attack you they will, you cannot catch them all before they do it, look at Pearl Harbor, Twin Towers, USS Cole.

Do you think we should do a pre empitive strike on Russia then? That would be the logical thing to do,now isn't it?
Even thought they are in international water,They should still respect it as our waters and give a cushion. I say pre-empitive strike will do the trick as we did on Iraq. Lets do it and get this war on. I am tired of waiting. LETS GET IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
