Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Is it time to shut down the USPS?

Is it time to close the US Postal Service? They will loose 7 billion next year and 9 billion the following year. With everyone changing over to Emails, electronic banking, and private shipping companies (that includes the USPS who now ships privately), is it time to shut it down or revamp it to an electronic clearing house (I think thats the right word). Instead of having them deliver letters that go from point a to point z with b,c and d being the postal locations anymore, why not make the transaction electronicly as it goes through the postal services? Why have the postal services deliver a bill from a to z and then the check back from z to a?

Surely you're not advocating closing such a well run, finely tuned Government enterprise such as this???!!!

The are closing 8 post offices in Ft. Worth, but that shouldn't surprise anyone the government hasn't been able so far to run any correctly. Now with Osama running things it wouldn't be long before we are completely bankrupt.

Yeah, the same well run institution that refuses to make a left turn down a city street to deliver the mail where one of my rental houses is located. Instead, I'm told the renters must either pay for a PO Box or locate the mailbox down the road on a different street.

I hope I'm not the only one who thinks the internet is destroying this world.

Not just the USPS, but stores all over the world are shutting down due to internet shopping. Entire industries are disappearing due to internet shopping, internet bill paying, internet this, internet that.

Not to mention all the other crap on the internet that doesn't seem to help anyone.

Then again, I wouldn't even be having this discussion without it.

Screw it, shut 'em down.

Not to worry! Our President will appoint yet another czar. One who will figure out how to screw UPS, FEDEX, and every other commercial carrier, in order to give an unfair advantage to the US Postal Service.

That's an awful lot of American jobs though. The private carriers wouldn't be able to take them all.

Valore, Fedex already is the company that handles the shipping of packages for USPS.

Really? When I get packages through the post office, a post man delivers them. Are you talking about transit between post offices?

I honestly didn't know this.
