Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Remember that promise about taxes...

You know... The one where Obama promised not to raise taxes on people making less than $250,000 per year? Well.... Nevermind...

Sorry middle class folks, we're probably going to have to come and take some of your money too...

Good grief. If anyone votes for this clown again, well, I'm not allowed to say what I think about them, lest I violate forum rules and offend some of our members.

Edit: Sorry... Didn't see that there was already a thread about this...

Well, I've been saying all this time. If his lips are moving he's lying. I'm glad the middle class has to step up to the plate too.... I'm sick of being stuck paying for all his programs that I don't get to enjoy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Any national level democrat is all about tax and spend. Raise taxes, raise government spending. First and foremost. Second on the agenda is to further constrain gun rights, gun usage, gun anything, in one guise or another. Nothing on this front so far in this administration . . . but, regrettably, this administration isn't done yet. Maybe judge Sottomayor will provide the necessary deeds to support this axiom. Third on the agenda is to advance a liberal social agenda -- gay marriage, abortion rights, excessive environmental causes, etc. It is as predictable as the phases of the moon. It's gonna happen. So why do people vote for these folks when they say "I'm not a socialist! I won't raise your taxes! I'm not . . . " Yes they are.

It does not make me optimistic about the ability of the masses to govern themselves. I think a more limited democracy -- such as was in force in the 19th century (for example, members of the senate were not elected by "the people" but rather by the state legislatures) -- would be better. People are too stupid to decide these issues wisely.

Have "the people" truly elected any representative in the past century, Alsatian? Or have we just become so enured to being lead by the nose that we only think that we have? This is the Information Age, the sheeple have more access to information about those who would be in command than at any other time, yet despite this they are still woefully ignorant of the voting records of their chosen electorate because they'd rather "tweet" than look up what is plainly available in the public records of any candidate. Are they growing dumber with each passing generation? I think not, if anything they're more intelligent, but they're just too distracted with instant gratification to care anymore. If it were left to me, the "straight ticket" option would be removed from all polling equipment, and anyone choosing to excercise their right to vote would be required to demonstrate that they had at least an inkling of the issues being decided by their vote. They would have to work for it since they'd have to pull every single lever for their choices before being allowed to exit the booth rather than just one. Anyone too lazy or stupid to pull two dozen levers doesn't deserve to vote anyway.

Very little representation from either side at least in the last 40 years or so. I think everyone saw this coming, anyone with a brain knows that you can't cure over spending by more over spending. Only the government would even try it and that is simply because they are spending other peoples money and they don't give a crap about the people they are supposed to be working for.

OK he fibbed a little.

Sorry to disappoint everyone, but:

"Despite warnings from President Barack Obama's top economic advisers that new taxes for middle-income Americans cannot be ruled out, the White House insisted Monday that the president's "commitment'' to a campaign pledge to avert new taxes for those earning less than $250,000 a year holds firm.

Both Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and chief economic adviser Lawrence Summers had suggested during appearances on the Sunday morning news talk shows that tax increases cannot be ruled out for Americans earning less than the threshold that the president has set.

But White House spokesman Robert Gibbs adamantly and repeatedly insisted today that the president remains committed to his pledge - while unable to explain why Geithner and Summers had strayed from the administration's line."

They can call it whatever they want but we all will be taxed. The cap and trade crap will be the biggest tax in history if or when it passes. They can hide it or rename it but we will get it broke off in us one way or another.

Is this the same Tim Geithner who awarded the huge no bid contracts to Black Rock?
I am pretty sure no bid contracts were not supposed to happen either.
