Default No more "Cash for Clunkers?"

It already needs more taxpayer money to keep going...

Glen Beck reviewed this stupid program today on Fow. It turns out the dealerships are to disable the engine by draining the oil and putting in an aditive the will distroy the engine with in 5 mins of running. The car can have some parts taken off but no engine or drivetrain. The cars are then to be crushed and sold to China. This stuff is just too funny. You can't make this up. Notice, when the engines and drive trains are ruined and with an already troubled parts market, the rest of the people will be forced to buy new instead of repair anyway.

Yep the whole program is a cluster for the most part...but I could trade in my old Cherokee, then with the dealer rebates and get a brand new Hyundai or Ford Ranger for like $9000...

My problem is that the cars I want would never qualify for this stupid program in the first place. I want my wife always in an all wheel drive. I want an older sports car for a toy, Pantera is on the top of the list. Last thing, I'm looking towards getting a boat sometime in the future and I'll need a big truck to pull it to the beach. I guess I'll be at the bottom of the grennie wennies list for a very long time.

Thats true, and I REALLY don't like the idea of them crushing all these cars! I saw one show and they showed a mid 90's Impala SS that was going to get crushed!!

I know of a Malibu Wakesetter for sale...

Thumbs down cash for clunkers (designed by idiots)

Typical Goobermint program. This program provides a view into Goobermint Healthcare and how it will be run...stupidly (to borrow an O'Vomit phrase).

I HATE this program on many levels.

First off, they blow through 1 billion the Govt doesn't have to spend, and only what, 200,000 people get helped?

Second, I don't get help, most people aren't getting "helped" ..... only a small, target group of people are going to be able to cash in on this, yet the general Govt "funding" is paying for it ie taxpayers.

Third, the "clunkers" are going to be demolished/destroyed - not salvaged, not used in the best sense that they can.

This is Obama blowing the car industry/auto makers for getting him votes or funding his campaign.

This helps a very few target people, the rest of us is screwed on it.

Just another reason "government" and "healthcare" should never be used together.

Let's see.......Medicare and Medicaid are a mess. Social Security is a mess. Congress couldn't even run their own cafeteria. The state of Nevada bankrupted a brothel (Mustang Ranch).

What kind of idiot do you have to be to want these people in charge of your heartbeat????

I thought it was a dumb thing when I heard about it. People in a short sighted (what’s in it for me) attitude bought into it but in reality you don't get something for nothing. What did it accomplish other than to create a huge government program that is ripe for fraud? From what I understand the value of the trade needs to be about zero to get the $4500 rebate. Most of those vehicles probably weren’t even road worthy so the were sitting in someone’s yard. It did stimulate car buying and encouraged high MPG vehicles but who paid for it….everyone?
