After I read the police report, and saw how it all went down I would say to heck with being a good neighbor and never report any suspicious activity at the professors residence in the future. The professor is a fool, and the President showed a pretty profound lack of wisdom.
Or, maybe the President and the professor are both just two bit racist.

I heard the verbal response from the officer today in regards to Obama's comment. The officer was operating per the book and his safety. He too has a family to go home to. They are trained never to enter an unknown residence or confined space without back up.
As far as the rascist remarks, How can that be? We're told you can't have any racism unless you have power. Everyone knows the President of the United States is powerless.

With that said, I was listening to the end of the president's press conference last night. He didn't call the Gates arrest a racial incident or play the race card.
"Obama said he did not know what role if any race played in the matter."
I read the report too and I think they are both racist. All the professor had to do was show the police his ID, but he refused to cooperate, but he turned it into a racial issue. Just because you are a minority doesn't mean that you exempt from the law.

Hey beau, he absolutely implied racism and he did it right after admitting he didn't know all the facts. Irregardless of that issue we could argue about endlessly, why is the President of the United States entering in comments on a local issue and then trash a law enforcement officer? He's the chief law enforcement officer in the USA. Too bad he isn't a leader.

Why was he asked? If he said nothing folks would say he is avoiding the hard issues.
