WASHINGTON – Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said Wednesday that he will vote for Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, breaking with his party's conservative leaders to back President Barack Obama's choice to be the first Hispanic justice.
The South Carolinian, who had hinted during Sotomayor's confirmation hearings that he might back the 55-year-old judge, said he would vote yes because "elections matter," and he believes she's a well-qualified jurist with a mainstream record that shows her "troubling" statements on race and gender don't drive her decisions on the bench.
I hope the conservatives that helped put them in office remember come re-election time.

So do i. But they will not remember. The Republican anti-gunners will come home and blow smoke up the butts of the electorate and regale them with their love of motherhood, football, kids and apple pie. It is a sad fact that Republicans who vote for gun control get a pass by the pro-gun organizations and the electorate. They get ratings they do not deserve simply because they claim to be "conservative," whatever that equates to now days.
So wil several more Republican senators from states with a large Hispanic populations.
South Carolina is only about 1% Hispanic. In Utah, where the percentage of Hispanics is five times as large, Sen. Bennett says he'll vote against Sotomayor. Go figure.

Who would have thunk it!! People need to start holding their elected officials accountable for their actions, regardless on what side of the fence they are on.
Lindsey was great in the house but has been a disaster as a senator. I hope he doesn't get reelected. He's an independent like many on this forum.
