There has been a lot of talk lately about banning smoking for the military, including cigars, pipes, smokeless tobacco. Taking away the very rights the all volunteer army lays down their life to uphold.
Of course Obammy is a closet smoker proving " do as I say not as I do". We can see the hypocrisy with his speech that Americans have to sacrifice, while Michelle my Bell goes and hires a ridiculous staff to be at her beaconed call.. What a bunch of HYPOCRITES.
While they take way the rights of our military, the gays are getting more and more rights in the military. Soon we will have an army of non-smoking, pink wearing, purse carrying wimps!! Way to go Obammy!
Once again, the military becomes the "proving ground" for social policy.
I remember awhile back when earplugs were forced on us, even in the field. The wives' tale (or maybe not?) was that since the Army was "protecting" our hearing, no more claims could be filed against the Army or against the VA regarding "service connected hearing loss".
Don't know if there's any truth to that, but I do know that in a HMMWV, cooling fans howling, and Ma Deuce bang-bang-banging away over your head, it's hard enough to talk on the radio (and hear) WITHOUT earplugs.
What's next? The Pepsi ban? I think I went through that phase in Basic Training?

I don't see it happening. If they try to pull that one off can you imagine the uproar? Soldiers with guns needing a nicotine fix.........not a good combination.

This actually started back in 92-93 when you were no longer allowed to smoke in common spaces. No smoking in berthing, in the head, on the mess decks. Had to go to designated smoking areas. Then you had to go outside with no indoor smoking areas.

Just look at the parallels of the Nazi regime and the Obama Administration amazingly similar arent' they.
They could have banned it at any time on the grounds that the service memeber was "damaging government property", they could also do the same with alcohol if they chose, they've already banned drug use. One thing civillians misunderstand about military life is that you are no longer "free" in the same sense that a civillian is. Read the regulations and UCMJ sometime, you'd be surprised how many "rights" someone gives up when joining the service. Most of you work for an employer who probably bans drug use, and possibly smoking as well in their work space under threat of loss of employment or benefits, they could mandate a non-smoking work force at any time and you'd either have to comply or move on, a choice a service memeber doesn't share.

I agree 100%, you have not rights in the military. However there may be no troops either, it is an all volunteer army, and who in their right mind would want to serve under Obammy.
