Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Lost 1,000 in my area this week

Lockhead Martin layed off 600 on Monday(actually 90 day warn letter) high paying jobs, that were connected to the recently scrapped presidential helicopter project, BAE systems 250 and other good paying companies made up the rest.

Most of these folks were hired a little less then three years ago, are younger in age and have just purchased homes in our area.

This is one of the first things Obama did when he took office scrapped the coter project, thanks.

More like "The previous administration actually screwed things up a whole lot worse than we ever imagined, and it's going to take a whole lot more sacrifice from the American people (well, actually the American taxpayers--those of you who didn't vote for me) to fix this mess the previous administration left because there's no way I could have cause this big of a mess.......it had to be the previous administration. HOPE! CHANGE! Hey.......who's screwing around with the teleprompter? Tell them the campaign is over.........who let Biden near the teleprompter?"

So fart the Dems haven't found a tax they don't like. Heard, I think this morning that we could see no new jobs for a decade right now. Something else to consider, europe where they have nationalized healthcare and heavy government regulation has unemployment numbers normally at 10% and greater even in good times. Is this what we now must accept?

I'm not sure I get it. Did we need a special engineering design project employing 600 people to develop a new presidential helicopter, to produce 1, 2, maybe 3 presidential helicopters? Am I misunderstanding "presidential helicopter?" Maybe the president could fly on more plebian aircraft or just keep flying what he has. I understand it is pretty good as currently designed.

I'm with you in disliking Obama on more issues than I want to think about, not having a stiff drink ready to hand during the work day, but I'm not sure what sin you are accusing him of for pulling the plug on the "presidential helicopter" project. More details maybe?

PP-1 is the first of five VH-71 production aircraft that will complete the initial phase, or increment one, of the presidential helicopter replacement program, designed to meet an urgent need for new helicopters.
Increment two will provide 23 operational helicopters with increased range and upgraded navigation and communications systems that fulfill White House requirements to maintain continuity of government and allow the president to carry out the duties of the office. Some of the current presidential helicopters have been flying since the 1970s, and are scheduled to begin phasing out of operational service at a rate of three per year beginning in 2017.
Lockheed Martin Systems Integration-Owego is the prime contractor and systems integrator for the VH-71 program with overall responsibility for the program and aircraft system. AgustaWestland, the principal subcontractor to Lockheed Martin, has responsibility for the basic air vehicle design, production build, and basic air vehicle support functions. More than 200 suppliers in 41 states support the VH-71 program.

Any heli made in the latter half of the 20th century would be an improvement over those ancient Sikorski Sea Kings they fly now, most of those are well over fifty years old. They're the same choppers my Navy unit flew just before the new Seahawks came in after '84.

my company outsourced me to another company ........ basically 12 months I'll have the same job I have at the same pay, then after that who knows what'll happen ?

I suspect we'll either take a big pay cut or lose our jobs totally
