The "new" GM has announced that it will cancel its contract with the natiions only only platinum and palladium mine, the Stillwater Mine in the Beartooth Mountains here in Montana. Instead, it will seek the metals from foreign countries, namely S. Africa and Russia. Standard and Poors placed Stillwater Mine on its creditwatch as negetive on Thursday. Four hundred workers have been laid off since the recession began already at the mine. Unbelievable that a company so heavily supported by American tax dollars, can turn their backs on a Montana company and send our tax dollars overseas. Disgusting.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) -- Gov. Brian Schweitzer is calling on the Obama administration to force General Motors to honor its contract with a Montana mining company instead of going overseas to buy the precious metals used to control vehicle pollution.
By failing to shield the platinum and palladium mines, the Democrat said Friday that the administration had shown a bias against his state -- at a time when other U.S. jobs were protected with a "buy American" clause in the $787 billion stimulus act.
