I love Christmas lights. They remind me of the people who voted for Obama. They all hang together; half of them don't work, and the ones that do, aren't that bright.
For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do
not understand, no explanation is possible.
A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.
Here are the "truck" qualifications, assuming what passed is the same as the stuff that we discussed here a week or so ago...
Quote:
For standard-duty models "” most SUVs, vans and pickups:
1. The old one must be rated 18 mpg or less.
2. The new one must be at least 2 mpg better for $3,500 or at least 5 mpg better for $4,500.
For heavy-duties (6,000 to 8,500 pounds gross vehicle weight rating):
1. The old one must be rated 15 mpg or less.
2. The new one must be rated at least 1 mpg better for $3,500, or 2 mpg or more for $4,500.
Work trucks (8,500 to 10,000 lbs.) don't have mpg ratings, so age is the criteria. The old one has to be a 2001 model or older. And only $3,500 is available.
I think you'll be hard pressed to get a truck to qualify to replace an older truck. It seems to me that all of the truck makers, including Toyota, have gone the wrong route. As engines have become more efficient, rather than keeping the trucks the same size and achieving better gas mileage, they've chosen to keep the same gas mileage and make the trucks larger and heavier... I tend to doubt that you'll find a 2-5 mpg (EPA rated) improvement between your 1982 truck and a new Tundra.

You are right on that. The Tundra gets lousy gas mileage. If I get a Toyota it will be a4X4 Toyota Tacoma with stretch cab. Problem is that the front end of the Tacoma is designed to crunch:Mounting a winch is problematic at best.
What if I go out and buy a piece of junk clunker just to trade ??? I dont have a clunker I trade every 2 or 3 years.I know where I can buy a 1971 chevy pickup with a gas hog 350 4 Brl. for 400

I wonder if the trade in has to have an engine in it?
My dad one time traded inan old worn out 69 GMC pick up. It died trying to make it the last 100 yards to the dealership. It coasted perfectly into the parking place, and he went in and signed the papers.
I remember thinking my dad was a genius.
