Default Shotgun in the news

Hang on to your scatter guns! I'm watching the news on the Holocaust Museum shooting as I type this. Tragic. Let's watch the follow-up. I'm sure there's gonna be a move to re-lable shotguns as assault/dangerous weapons by some anti-2nd amendment legislator.

That guy is 88 years old and is a true far out nutcase. He went to jail for attempting to kidnap the federal reserve board way back when.

BTW:The shooterwas a PT boat sailor in WWII. The Navy did that to him.

At the request of the U.S. Park Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is tracing the weapon. Under federal law, convicted felons cannot purchase firearms.

Wow--you mean a convicted felon was able to purchase a firearm, even though it's against the law? You know what that means, don't you? We need more laws! That will do it.....[8D]

Why do you think that it would be difficult for a felon to purchase a shotgun just because it's against the law? He may not be able to buy one at WalMart, but plenty of private transactions take place everyday where there are no background checks ever done. If the felon has some money there are plenty of folks around who would sell him one.

It's called sarcasm Steve--I use it all the time. Liberals/Democrats push for more laws, as if that is a solution to crime. I just used the opportunity to point out how stupid that is. Laws only affect honest criminals, just like locks only stop honest theives.

Yes, I saw your sarcasm, yet the truth is that there really is NO way to stop a felon from getting a gun in this country. Gun enthusiasts don't seem to mind this, but there are probably more people who don't own guns in this country who aren't too comfortable with this fact. It is one thing if someone without a criminal record purchases a gun and then misuses it, but it is a whole different story knowing that a felon just released from jail could purchase a gun as easily as he could purchase a can of soda. Many crimes in this country are by repeat offenders, so this fact surely won't sit well with many people in this country.

Did you know that banning AR-15's in the United States will prevent Mexican Drug Lords from acquiring M-60 machine guns and Russian RPG's?

This is the best reply you got? What you posted has absolutely NOTHING to do with the issue of the ease with which a felon can obtain a gun in this country. Just sidestepping some real issues won't make the gun grabbers any less aggressive. If you can't prove to them that current laws are working, why would they not want more and different laws that they think might be better? You obviously don't think there should be more laws, but why wouldn't they, since current laws do diddly to prevent felons from getting a gun?? This is actually a good issue for them to pounce on, because they know the gun crowd has mighty little to convince anyone that felons can't easily get guns.

I don't know. I see laws that actually worked accept for the fact that the man was given medical treatment. You will never stop a law breaker from getting a gun no matter how many laws are on the books. This crap happens even in the tightest countries with the most restrictive laws possible. Remember these were armed guards not rent-a-watchman guys. They expected something like this to happen. It's tradjic that the guard was killed. I really wish however, they with held all medical treatment for the gun man. Let him die on the sidewalk.
