Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default GM Bankruptcy...

So... Union guys. Plant closings. Job losses. Manufacturing moving out of the country.

How do you like him now?

You're missing the point, ipscshooter. Barrack Obama cares and George Bush didn't care. It is the caring that counts, not the outcomes.

Why was the UAW even allowed a stake in the reorganized company? They were one of the major reasons why it failed in the first place. Canada at least contributed billions to trying to preserve their solvency, what did the UAW contribute other than a millstone around the company's neck?

I watched the 10 minute Gettlefinger video in that link, and having not come from the Union culture I'm asking myself how does this guy have any authority to talk about the general operation of GM. You would think he was somebody from executive management of the company. Is he required to sign off on any of the companies financial filings? I don't even see how companies stay in business as long as they do when they have external competition, and the competition within.

It seems to me that ifGettlefinger is supposed to protect the employees, he is a miserable failure. If he is allowed to talk about what GM should and shouldn't do, he shouldshare accountability for GM's failure.
Where is the accountability, to speak with such authority?

Nothing has changed. They will come out from theChapter 11and still have losses. People won't get back to GM for years.

Too bad. Their current product line isn't too bad... The new Camaro is a beauty. My wife loves her 08 Impala, which gets very good gas mileage for a full size sedan. I wish Ford would make a pickup that competes with the Colorado. The F150 is way bigger and the Ranger is too small...

The lose of suppliers will be the biggest detriment to their successful recovery.

The demise of manufacturing is staggering and the effects will certainly be felt by many. Our ability to produce in large quantities has been down sized and out sourced to the point where producing military equipment needed for a large scale assault would be impossible.

Great point Jim. The supply factor hasn't been talked about all that much since the focus has been on the employees and stockholders. I am not sure if anyone knows what will happen next but I see an almost total stop to manufacturing throughout the summer. Factories and assembly plants will close as well as the supply companies who make the parts. This is the time of year when they start to roll out the tooling for the new model year. I can"™t imagine what they will do for the 2010 year class cars and trucks. From the truck standpoint I look to see Ford and Toyota have a banner year when all the Dodge and Chevy/ GMC people look elsewhere.

I believe that, "from the truck standpoint," Ford always has a banner year.

I wonder if Ted Nugent is cheering for this bankruptcy.

After all, he filed in 1980.
