Republicans made lots of campaign promises to stave off the moral decline of America but they did very little when they ran the congress and the white house. The congressional leadershipnever pushed for legislation that would have declared marriage to be a contract between a manand a woman. They knew that some of thier own house and senate members were twinkies.
