GITMO revisited

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The left leaning media highlighted GITMO as the poster child for US abuse of terrorists, and succeeded in getting worldwide attention and drawing anti-US criticism abroad. So Obama the candidate comes along and promises to close it if elected. He gets elected, but in closing GITMOhe had no exit strategy. Then he learned that GITMO holds hostile, dangerous people who 1) no other country wants to take, and 2) really should bekept in prison. Furthermore, Obama plans to continue military tribunals, which he was critical of as a candidate. So now the solution to GITMO is to do exactly what was Bush did, detain the prisoner-terrorrists. Only now, since GITMO has been given a bad name by theleft leaning media,we'll be less safe because the prisoners will bemoved from GITMO to sites across the continental US. Same business, different name and location. So the bottom line is Bush was right about GITMO all along, and the prisoners it housed.

The criticisms of U.S. treatment of prisoners under Bush has been idiotic. Look at Abu Ghraib; you had rather limited cases of prisoners are made to strip down and pile on top of each other, threatened with dogs, etc. and folks want to act like it was the Aushwitz extermination camp. Ditto for Gitmo. What is gonna happen if they transferthe prisoners to some place like Angola or Parchmond prisons. I doubt that places like that would pass muster withfolks looking for something to complain about either. You almost wish that the U.S. would engage in some real torturefor a change just to give folks a real reason to whine and complain.

Obama let his mouth, and lack of experience, right checks he will not be able to cash. He is now pissing off his lunatic left, the moderates, and has never had the support of anyone right of center. Can you say 1 termer. I think he will replace Carter on the loser list. OR I should say, he will bump Carter up a bit on the favorible list, with his replacing the bottom loser.

Obama will remain the darling of the left. If he is a one-termer it will be because the Republicansare able to getmost of their strays backon the reservation and many of the moderates realize that, comparatively speaking, Bush wasn't so bad after all. Of course, if Biden keeps talking it may drive folks to the point of staging a coup within the next year. I swear, that guy ismakingDan Quayle look good.

I've got it. Close GITMO, build a new one in the same spot and re-name it San FranMo (in honor of the beloved Speaker).
