All four agencies that track Earth's temperature (the Hadley Climate Research Unit in Britain, the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, the Christy group at the University of Alabama, and Remote Sensing Systems Inc in California) report that it cooled by about 0.7C in 2007. This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record and it puts us back where we were in 1930. If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over.
Go ahead and read the whole article. It's pretty good.

That's what I've been asking for the last couple of years, "What will the gooberment have us all do when it's shown that the earth is cooling?" Is it not more "dangerous" for life on earth if coolingtakes place compared towarming? Well, except the polar bears would maybe enjoy more cooling![8D]

Dang it. I've been doing my best to stop global warming by eating as many cattle as possible so as to reduce their methane emissions. I guess I ate too many of them. Lord, I hate the thought of having to become a vegan in order to prevent the next ice age...

I truly think this is great news - if it is true and the trend is sustained.
Global warming evidence has not been built on one year samples however. It has been postulated given years and years of rising global temps./CO2 data - you can't do statistics on a sample of One (year 2007in this case).
Could be a temporary aberation - or not. Only time and more scientific data (devoid of political spin) will tell the tale and reveal the trend.
Regardless of how we handle it as a planet, I truly hope that somehow global warming is avoided.
