What's all this NEW tax on alcohol, tobacco, soda and chips?
For one thing, don't they already have high taxes on alcohol and tobacco? Also, what right does the gubment have to jack up taxes on potato chips and coke? And how will they refund taxes paid for these things to those making less than $250,000, the threshold under whichObama promised there would be no increase in taxes?

[bho]Those are not taxes, per se. They are voluntary contributions. You are not required to pay these contributions. To avoid them, all you have to do is stop buying the types of products which I believe are bad for you.[/bho]

Oh, I see! So when it's passed, Obama gets to say, "Suckas!!!!" [:'(]
How about coffee? People won't easily give up that morning joe, so why not tax them? I see they already did that in Seattle or therebouts. It must give liberals warm fuzzies for creatively thinking of things they can tax so someone can pay for someone else's freebies!

I think they ought to pay for their grandiose plans with a steep tax on television viewing. It rots the brain and prevents people from engaging in physical activities that would better promote health. We even have a common expression that captures many of the evils of television viewing: the "couch potato." That does not conjure an image in my mind of a healthy, fit physical specimen or of an active and sharp mind. The steepest taxes ought to be on the major network news outlets, as they have been shown to have the most pernicious effects on otherwise healthy cerebellums. How else can the result of the presidential election be understood?

Excellent point. You forgot to mention the glossy term for T.V.. The idiot box.

A tax on mens pants over size 40 would be nice. There should be a heavy taxon ladies jeans and stretch pants over size 12. Ladies stretch pants over size 14 should be outlawed.

There are a couple thousand things at least that the government does that they have absolutely no right to do under the constitution or laws. When the people say THAT IS ENOUGH, something may get done. It won't get done by re-electing any of the scum bags that are in there now. (There may be a few exceptions). The two party thing is now a disaster there is so little difference any more that it really hardly matters (with the exception of gun rights). Both parties are out for the good of the party First, Next, Transferring people power to Federal Government power and LASTLY, representing the people who pay their damn wages.[:@][:@]
