Default A small victory for us yesterday!

Although some may not see this as a small victory, we surely do! I have been to our states capital 3 times since being laid off.Yesterday we havestopped J.D.Irving's plan to use Maine as a pass threw for power lines. Canada wanted to use Maine as a corridor to ship electrical energy and natural gass threw out the northeast. We have met in Augusta and rallied our legislators to stop the plan until Canada can agree to let LNG ships pass threw Head Harbor Passage. Now a new session will begin to investigate all the bennies that Maine will or will not recieve if these new lines pass threw. Also any possable tie ins that Maine could or could not use as well. With Canada's plan to install a new reactor at it's nuclear plant, as well as a LNG plant almost completed. This ought to get thier attention.. We want work for Maine before any work is given to Canada. It looks as though Augusta recieved our message yesterday.

Phil, i am very sorry to hear that you were laid off from work. The US has become a non-industrialized country and i do not like that at all.The idea that the USmust depend on communist China for all of ourconsumer goodsis absurd.

Thefolks who defend the mass exodus of US jobs tored China are the same ones whowhine the loudest about creeping socialism here at home.

Thanks falcon,

We havedone a lot of struggling with all this crap about exporting our jobs away up here for quite sometime. Last Tuesday the 5th at 3:00 pm our jobs went away here. Over 300 hundred of us hit the streets looking for work that is not here. The saddest part of loosing our jobs is the fact these companies are actully building new plants in those poor countries. They do that for cheeper labor? Mostly it is about the safety and environmental standards though. That way they can undercut us so that the shareholders can be happy.. It sucks without a doubt.

For as far as Canada's plan goes we need to make sure that they can't control the prices with sudden drops to put more utility companies out of work as well. We need to ensure that we can get ships in and out of the passage so we can create more jobs here. We have a very big potential for this power grid idea and need to make sure we can build new jobs here and not next door to us in another country.

I have to correct this statement. Come on falcon, you know better. Our manufacturing has increased by 4% in this country for the last 6 decades. I've posted this fact already many months ago. What you keep confusing is jobs vs productivity. We continue to increase our productivity here at home, so that we can have rising wages. The flip side is the need for less workers to produce the product.

Sorry phil, for to congratulate you. I hope it all works out.

Good luck Phil. If Maine does allow itself to be a corridor I hope adequate compensation in the way of financial and jobs occur.

Thanks guys and we hope the same thing C.I. and we are hoping to get the issue around the right of passage put to bed with this as well. By the way for those that do not realize it going to Augusta from here is a 4 hour drive 1 way. So it makes for a long day all by itself.. I feel it is going to be worth my time though..

Well i will congrat you on any new jobs for Americans like i always do Phil.

Lot i dont understand when you post about these things tho.

Where is all this LNg comming from? Is it a American product?
Or it it like all that oil that comes to the east coast- from places like the middle east, venezuela etc etc

Didnt you & many of the ppl of the northeast knowenly vote forthe man who also promised to put many many Americans( from Ky, W,Va etc etc)workers out of work & American companys out of business?

Arent these the same ppl who have stoped the building of all nuclear & coal power plants, gas refinerys etc etcthere by electing there liberal poticians into office yr after yr ?

Sorry to hear about the layoff Phil, I have been layed off a while now, competing with hundreds of others for the meager jobs that do get posted. It's tough out there.

Is this the J.D. Irving company you mentioned?

Just wondering how higher taxes on those companies will make them stay here?
