Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

The comment was directed toward unions generally, not toward health care workers specifically.

Once again... Unions. Not the workers specifically.

By way of example... Look at what has happened with Detroit and the UAW. UAW takes money from its members, and spends the money on lobbying/politics, regardless of whether members object to the union stance on the issues. Unions tell workers to vote D. Many probably do, solely because they were told to by the union. Now, Detroit has problems, which I contend are largely the result of overreaching by the unions. Obama steps in. Gives huge chunks of the companies to the unions, in preference to other creditors, and, what's going to happen? The unions/union execs will make out like bandits, but the workers will lose jobs because plants are still going to be closed and production moved overseas or to Mexico.

The union is simply a business.... period. Its business is to protect workers and negotiate contracts for them and make enough money to fund themselves. Without workers there would be no money to fund the unions so it is a symbiotic relationship between the unions and workers and the companies and unions. In the event that the unions ask for and are granted too much compensation the company is put in jeopardy. Without the support of the unions, in a union shop, the company is put in jeopardy. In these cases the only recourse for the companies are to get concessions from the union, remove the union through workers vote or to close.
