NATO thwarts hijack off Somalia, seizes dynamite

NAIROBI, Kenya "“ Special forces on a Portuguese warship seized explosives from suspected Somali pirates after thwarting an attack on an oil tanker, but later freed the 19 men.

Hours later and hundreds of miles away, another band of pirates hijacked a cargo ship, a NATO spokesman said Saturday.

Pirates are now holding 17 ships and around 300 crew, including the Greek-owned cargo ship Ariana, hijacked overnight with its Ukrainian crew.

Letting Somali pirates go is like letting a bank robber go if he just gives the money back. They'll be pirating another ship tomorrow! How about blowing them out of the water and sending a message to all the other animals that they will die if they try pirating ships. Only then will you see a decline in attacks.

The other day some pirates tried to capture a ship but got chanced off. Whoever came after them couldn't arrest them because they found out the pirates didn't have guns on the boat. But they watched them dump them in the ocean as they chanced them. The need to fix the international laws so things like this can be stopped.

To make things easy for the pirates, most ships don't carry weapons because it raises insurance cost if you have them on you're ship. and it's illegal to have them in most ports.

Time for some undercover ships to lure pirates in and then blow them out of the water. Is that a real freighter or one with hidden special forces, weapons, etc.

I agree 100%....just start killing them on sight...only then will they start backing off.

I don't believe in international law, just international lead (pronounced: led)! Let the laws catch up with the reality of what's going on out there! And let Obama learn what happens when you appease an enemy, they come back fivefold!
