Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Mother Nature Angry?

WASHINGTON "“ The world's governments raced to avoid both a pandemic and global hysteria Sunday as more possible swine flu cases surfaced from Canada to New Zealand and the United States declared a public health emergency.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090426/ap_on_he_me/med_swine_flu

Mexico, the outbreak's epicenter with up to 86 suspected deaths, closed churches, markets and restaurants. Few people ventured onto the streets, and some wore face masks.

Canada became the third country to confirm cases, in six people, including some students who "” like some New York City spring-breakers "” got mildly ill in Mexico. Countries across Asia promised to quarantine feverish travelers returning from flu-affected areas.

The U.S. declared the health emergency so it could ship roughly 12 million doses of flu-fighting medications from a federal stockpile to states in case they eventually need them "” although with 20 confirmed cases of people recovering easily, they don't appear to for now.

Make no mistake: There is not a global pandemic "” at least not yet.

....Any reports of this in your area?

There is quite a brouhaha about this in the news right now. I don't get it, really. A few cases of swine flu: some people in Mexico died from it. Yes, I'm mindful of the 1918-1920 pandemic historically referred to as the Spanish Influenza that killed more people than did WW-I. Notwithstanding my knowledge of this historic plague, the case hasn't been made very well that this swine flu outbreak is as threatening or potentially threatening. I've certainly heard about fears about a Bird Flu -- perhaps related to the Spanish Influenza -- mutating and developing a threatening disposition, but again that has not yet happened and doesn't seem to be related to the present flu.

I guess the medical community is just very, very jumpy about pandemic flu, most likely because they believe the chances of a pandemic flu (for example bird flu) are very big in the "near future."

Probably the best advice to all is to take your vitamens, eat right, get your sleep, and stay healthy!!! Lowered resistance might make you more vulnerable to the flu.

I suspect that, much like the global warming scam, the groups that scream "The sky is falling, the sky is falling" loudest are the ones that will be given big heaping piles of taxpayer cash...
