Obama leaves door open to charge Bush administration.
What a freaken Joke.
President Obama left open the door Tuesday for charges to be brought against Bush administration lawyers who justified harsh interrogation techniques, though he continued to argue that CIA agents who used those tactics should not be prosecuted.
The president showed wiggle room on the issue as he faces calls from Democratic lawmakers and organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union to support such charges. Asked about the possibility of prosecution related to the interrogation program, the president deferred to Attorney General Eric Holder.
"With respect to those who formulate those legal decisions, I would say that that is going to be more of a decision for the attorney general within the parameters of various laws,"Obama said. "And I don't want to prejudge that. ... There are a host of very complicated issues involved there."
It was the first time Obama took a question on the matter since his administration released a string of previously classified memos detailing harsh interrogation tactics used against terror suspects. At the time, Obama said agents who followed Department of Justice advice would not be prosecuted.
He reiterated that point Tuesday. "For those who carried out some of these operations within the four corners of legal opinions or guidance that had been provided from the White House, I do not think it's appropriate for them to be prosecuted,"he said.
But while he also repeated his view that investigations into Bush officials could get politicized, he indicated for the first time an openness to such a course provided it is carried out in a "bipartisan fashion." The Associated Press contributed to this report.

First order of business would be to investigate the bi-partisan congressional committe that was fully briefed on interogation techniques and had not problems with them.[:@]

Your correct lanse. Nancy Polesi asked if that was all we were going to do to them.
How can lawyers get charged for giving legal interpretation and opinions?

Somehow i think that folks are gonna bend over backward to keep folks like Nancy Pelosi out of it. They did a pretty good job of keeping folks like Barney Frank out of the fallout over the economic problems, so i would assume that they will do the same for Nancy and company.

It will get very ugly should the left even try to charge our heros with a crime when they did nothing more and kept us safe. No torture ever occurred. Then to lie and say we got nothing out of these guys is a joke. Cheney is right, you release the treatment documents, release the documents that show how successful the tactics were.

Partisan politics at its finest. It isn't what is good for the country it is what is good for the party. Sounds like communism to me. Our economy and world standing is going down the toilet and all they want to do is prosecute the old POTUS. ??????Term limits for Congress and it needs to start now.

Anyone seem to understand the pattern here? The O mentions an issue, then steps back and lets his cronies take the action. He always manages to not get directly involved. As if to leave a backdoor open for a retreat in the event that an issue backfires. Hes good at stirin the pot, then ducks out of the kitchen.

Did any one actually expect him to take a real stance on this?
I mean, it sounded as if he was going toby initially telling us that he would not prosecute any one but as usual he cowards away from making any real decision and standing firm on the issue right in front of him.
