While I enjoy bashing the guy as much as anyone, and there are far more reasons to bash than not, he has made a few correct steps lately. He green-lit pirates and allowed our SEAL Teams a little live-fire practice. He apparently has told Mexico that he's going to enforce existing gun laws at the border, and doesn't plan to pursue an AWB. And, after Spain said they aren't going to prosecute Bush administration officials, Obama said his Justice Department won't either.
I'll give credit where credit is due, but remain skeptical, particularly with regards to the AWB, as I'm still sure he'd sign it if it crossed his desk...

RE: Good news from Obamaland...
I see a fly in your pudding. Obama will not pursue gun laws because that would be the final nail in his coffin. Don"™t fool yourself, he will go after them if the heat dies down. If it don"™t, he will not pursue them. If he did, he would lose the few Blue demos left supporting him. As for his call for taking out the pirates, yea he did the right thing. With that said, what other option did he have? I see it as him being forced to do the right thing, not doing the right thing because he wanted to.

I certainly didn't say "Obama is pro-gun" like some of the idiots that occasionally visit us. I said I remain skeptical, but, at least he recognizes the potential political impact and has stated that he's not pursuing an AWB (for now). This was an issue I was very concerned about with reference to how he'd pursue border issues and Mexican problems with violent drug cartels. As I said, I have little doubt that he'd sign it if Congress put it on his desk, so, obviously we need to remain vigilant and keep pressure on our representatives... and pray for the continued health and long life of a certain five members of the SCOTUS...
Another POTENTIAL positive: I have heard an inkling that he MIGHT back off of his cap and trade scheme. It appears someone may have informed him that it would skyrocket people's utility bills, which hurts the lower classes most and democrats' chances to win elections in 2010. Guess he didn't realizethat when he jacks up utility's expenses, they will simply flow them through to ratepayers. But hey, not everyone can understand Econ 101 level basics.
Could it be that maybe..just maybe... a little reality is settling in on FantasY Island? Whats really scary is the thoughts of him getting a 2nd term...and what he would try to throw through in the last year of it.
He had talked about it prior to the GE. Ran on that platform. Now is backing away, claiming that it would put a large burden on consumers. The fly in the ointment is that the EPA can still pursue the Cap and Trade agenda without having the prez get into the fray. At this time there are hardly any Generaters that could comply. One should read up on the CAA, CSI, and Cap and Trade. When facilities operate past their given allowance of NO2, SO2 and Mercury omissions they are given the opportunity to purchase credits from other facilities that have them to sell. Not only are they given a wavier by purchasing, but are given a pass if they can prove that they are makeing changes in their emissions. You cannot operate the grid with just wind and solar solutions, (although everybit helps) they cannot produce on demand like Coal and Natural Gas. If a fraction of the Spending Bill went toward this isssue, most if not all facilities could reach compliance with little impactto the consumer in theirs bills every month.
I didn't think the SEALS need Obama's approval to rescue an America hostage...??

For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do
not understand, no explanation is possible.
A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.
The SEALS indeed did not need osama's go ahead to rescue a American hostage. Besides that fact, Russia and France navy personnel have attack the pirates, that alone required us to take action.
It would amount to treason to attack the former administration for made up war crimes and he released way more info than he should have. As far as the Assault rifle Ban, it will be back but osama won't push for it in public, some underling will do that when they feel the time is right for them. They need to hype it up some more yet. Watch for the liberal press to do the foot work for them.
I will give him some credit though. He has been out of this country a lot lately.
