I wondered why the SEALS did not take them out the first night. It had to be done, we can't allow U.S crews to be hijacked, even if the hostages are sacrificed. In this case this is more or less a war zone and anyone who goes there should be ready to accept the consequences. Good job Seals.Back in the day, no authorization would have been needed or waited for.
This is probably the first positive thing I have seen come out of the Obama administration. I would hope Obama has a newfound respect for our military, and I would hope he realizes how the Navy just kept him from looking like a goat.
It speaks to America's greatness that we would do this for one American citizen, under our terms.
I bet we couldn't get 20 bucks for the fourth pirate.

I agree...1st good thing from Obama, although I wonder why we waited days and days for results....maybe the
situation was more difficult than we know and it took the seals longer to set up the final outcome.
I salute the SEALS as one of America's finest special operations groups. Warriors such as these restore the pride I have for my country. How dare Obama cut military spending !

I don't remember the exact comment, but as spokepersonfor the wifeof the captain was meeting with the press, the obvious stements saying how grateful she was(wife) were made.Quickly following, a briefstatement was said "don't believe everything you hear from the media". Whatever that was about will probablysurface in a little time.

My guess would be that the pirates were more alert and ready for anything in the early stages. After a period of time, they would start thinking that the U.S. would be willing to negotiate and pay a ransom, and let their guard down a bit. Apparently they relaxed enough to give the snipers open shots at them.

I am sure things have changes since I was in but I knew the pirates time in this world was limited. No American crew has been grabbed in 200 years and we can't ever let that stand our response needs to be fast and final.
Osama had to act, the Russians and French have attacked the pirates and we can't be the weak link.
