Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default F22

The Secretary of Defense wants to cancel the building of a new fleet of helicopters to transport the President. For me at least, that's no problem.

He also wants to cancel the building of the new F22 Jet fighters. According to what I have read and heard, the F22 is the baddest, meanest thing flying. It's also very expensive.

I have 3 kids. None of them are in the military right now. But I have to tell you that if my son or daughter was going into combat, I'd want them to be in the finest, fastest, and most superior piece of equipment money can buy. This aircraft would help to guarantee American air superiority for many years to come. Right now, we are wasting lots of money, but some things shouldn't be skimped on.

I hear ya- saw something about that on the news yesteday.
Just may need those aircraft( maybe someday -soon) .And the aircraft carrier that canceled etc to & a few other things( like that coal to jet fuel plant that was planed by the airforce to).

AndthatWill allso put ppl out of work now to- wont it.

Like that expensive bridge i saw a story onthatgoing to be built (in Wa?) going to microsoft..?( another bridge to knowhere?)

But meanwhile i guessin the same city/ down the street a little-a cheaper project-a bridge that gets much traffic (the other to knowheredosnt exist yet i dont think)* is rotted & rusted, crumbing concrete etc& sees a lot of traffic on it- under obammys plans does not qualify for replacement or much needed repairs??[>:]

Wonder what the deal was with the guy who flew his small aircraft to Mo from Canada-( followed by 2 interceptors)...wonder tojust how well to "they" screen these polticans to- for the job.

Because I serious doubt im sad to say-the man many seem tolove like a rock star /idol etchas what is needed & what it takes to do the job- or to do whats in the best intrests of the citizens of this our country.

Gates (under the direction of dear leader) can say anything he wants about cutting the F22's budget. It just ain't gonna happen. That plane has parts built in 40 different states and in too many Congress member's back yards. It may be scaled back slightly but they aren't going to cut production of that fighter anytime soon. This is just a ploy by Obama to show his liberal base that he is trying to cut defense spending like he promised, but he knows damn well Congress isn't going to let go of jobs in their back yard. Carter tried the same thing with the B-1 bomber (didn't work) and both Clinton and Bush tried it with the V-22 (guess what they are still being made). Congress are the ones who set the budget, not the Secdef or the Pres. I just hope this costs good ol' Obama a little political capital on the hill.....

and so it has begun:

There is no way the production of this jet is going to be halted. Too many members of Congress will lose out big time if this stops.

I don't think Dodd is going to stop it. It is looking like he is a goner anyway. Only the engines for the F22 are made in Connecticut, and most of the rest is made in Texas, and Georgia. I don't think Obama gives a wit about Texas and Georgia. He knows the people in Connecticut are so stupid they will vote for him and any crooked liberal that will replace Dodd. The Union workers who make that engine in Connecticut will probably be brainwashed into thinking Bush did it.

In the meanwhile, N. Korea is having missile practice, Iran is perfecting their nuclear capabilities, and we are about to make a deal with a john boat full of pirates while apologizing to the whole world for being proud of our great country.

The only hope I see in this administration keeping the F22 is if they can manufacture a clean, green, electric version of it that is worthless, and cost twice as much.

Keep the F22 if that is the latest and greatest. Superior air combat weapons will keep our ground troops out of the mix at least for a while.
