Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default But it was too late, is it?

[color="black" size="3"]And it came to pass in the Age of Insanity that the people of the
land called America , having lost their morals, their initiative, and
their will to defend their liberties, chose as their Supreme Leader that
person known as The One. He emerged from the vapors with a message that
had no meaning; but He hypnotized the people telling them, "I am sent to
save you. My lack of experience, my questionable ethics, my monstrous
ego, and my association with evil doers are of no consequence. For I
shall save you with Hope and Change Go, therefore, and proclaim
throughout the land that he who preceded me is evil, that he has defiled
the nation, and that all he has built must be destroyed."

And the people rejoiced. For even though they knew not what The
One would do, He had promised that it was good; and they believed.

And The One said "We live in the greatest country in the world.
Help me change everything about it!"

And the people said, "Hallelujah!! Change is good!"

Then He said, "We are going to tax the rich fat-cats,"----

And the people said "Sock it to them!"

"---- and redistribute their wealth."

And the people said, "Show us the money!"

And then He said, "Redistribution of wealth is good for
everybody"

And Joe the plumber asked, "Are you kidding me? You're going to
steal my money and give it to the deadbeats??"

And The One ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe's personal records
were hacked and publicized.

One lone reporter asked, "Isn't that Marxist policy?"

And she was banished from the kingdom!

Then a citizen asked, "With no foreign relations experience and
having zero military experience or knowledge, how will you deal with
radical terrorists?"

And The One said, "Simple. I shall sit with them and talk with
them and show them how nice we really are; and they will forget that
they ever wanted to kill us all!"

And the people said, "Hallelujah!! We are safe at last, and we
can beat our weapons into free cars for the people!"

Then The One said, "I shall give 95% of you lower taxes."

And one, lone voice said, "But 40% of us don't pay ANY taxes."

So The One said, "Then I shall give you some of the taxes the
fat-cats pay!"

And the people said, "Hallelujah!! Show us the money!"

Then The One said, "I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell
your homes!"

And the people yawned and the slumping housing market collapsed.

And He said, "I shall mandate employer- funded health care for
EVERY worker and raise the minimum wage. And I shall give every person
unlimited healthcare and medicine and transportation to the clinics."

And the people said, "Gim'me some of that!"

Then he said, "I shall penalize employers who ship jobs
overseas."

And the people said, "Where's my rebate check?"

Then The One said, "I shall bankrupt the coal industry and
electricity rates will skyrocket!"

And the people said, "Coal is dirty, coal is evil, no more coal!
But we don't care for that part about higher electric rates."

So The One said, "Not to worry. If your rebate isn't enough to
cover your expenses, we shall bail you out. Just sign up with ACORN and
your troubles are over!"

Then He said, "Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted.
Let's grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches,
free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing..."

And the people said, "Hallelujah!!" And they made him King!

And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and
ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others
simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto a
rock dropped from a cliff. The banking industry was destroyed.
Manufacturing slowed to a crawl. And more of the people were without a
means of support.

Then The One said, "I am the The One - The Messiah - and I'm
here to save you! We shall just print more money so everyone will have
enough!"

But our foreign trading partners said unto Him, "Wait a minute.
Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have to pay
more..."

And the people said, "Wait a minute. That is unfair!!"

And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic programs you
have embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate
power. Now you shall play by our rules!"

And the people cried out, "Alas, alas!! What have we done?"

But yea verily, it was too late. The people set upon The One and
spat upon him and stoned him, and his name was dung. And the once
mighty nation was no more; and the once proud people were without
sustenance or shelter or hope. And the Change The One had given them
was as like unto a poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind
that consumed all that they had built.

And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in
anguish, "Give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!"

But it was too late, and their homeland was no more.

But it was not too late, for in the next election the people cried out,
"Give us a Republican" and the nation began to be healed.

This could be summed up as "Trust me, I'm from the government and I'm here to help you."

What is funny is how some people absolutely did not trust the government at all under Bush and now trust it under Obama.

I hope to the almighty that it isn't too late and America will wake up to see that our country is falling into socialism. I watched "Saturday Night Live" last night were the first skit was Obama saying which companies would be seized and "bailed out by govt." and which would forced to cease operation because they didnt perform well enough and the people laughed. Only if they knew it wasn't a joke. First they will try to take our guns to "protect" us from violence. Then they try to take over health care to keep America "healthy" and will determine whether a cancer patient is worth govt money to save them. Then finally they will try to take over the education system to teach young Americans far left garbage. But I have hope in Americans that they believe the Constitution is to be followed and not interpreted . THOSE WHO SACRIFICE FREEDOM FOR SECURITY DESERVE NEITHER. "Ben Franklin"

Yeah they can really help us. That party is so watered down with neocons and rinos that you need a magnifying glass to tell the difference between them and Dem. Look no further than the party chair... who is even anti gun... gimme a break. If the repubs cant get back to their roots they may as well marge with them dems. Republicans as moderates have absolutely zero appeal to voters... need proof.. look no further than the last 2 elections. The fact that Steele is the chairman now shows me they have absolutely zero intentions of getting back to traditional republican values and only wish to move closer to the center and further alienate the core repub voters...

I keep waiting to hear people waking up, but alas they are like a wife married to a wife beater who still claims he wont do it again, he promised.

Get this straight, real republicans want there elected officials to work themselves out of a job and the faster the better. We don't want to support a party, just the memory of one that gave the country back to the people, all the people.

A wise native American, Chief Joseph delivered these words to the then president Hayes in 1879.

"If the white man wants to live in piece with the Indian he can live in piece. There need be no trouble. Treat all men alike. Give them all an even chance to live and Grow.

The earth is the mother of all people and all people should have equal rights upon it. Let me be a free man to travel, free to stop, free to work, free to trade where I choose, free to choose my own teachers, free to follow the religion of my fathers, free to think and talk and act like myself- and i will obey every law or submit to the penalty."

I appreciate and understand your thoughts. You sound like a person who embraces the old fashioned conservative values of the Republican Party,... as do I.
I also agree that many republicans have moved toward the center and away from those values. George W Bungler blew it badly when he ran up the deficit. That is contrary to traditional Republican fiscal responsibility.
All that said, I still consider myself a pragmatist. I would much prefer to have moderates in power rather than left wing liberals. Moderates are not what I want, but sometimes we have to settle for the lesser evil.

I agree, but sometimes I am more angered by republicans than democrats because republicans know better, whereas democrats are delusional. That said, I am in fear of Obama's dismantling our laser and ICBM interceptor programs even while NK is developing such capabilities. Though he said action must be taken, it will amount to no more thana nasty letter!

Thats pretty much me to a tee Mr C but I cant stand this slide to the left. Like Doug it makes me so mad to see them sliding away from traditional values.

BTW Mr C... if you are from Southern WV also....Id say being old school conservatives we used to be a rarity here..lol. I think that is changing though. Hopefully Barack Obama will be the biggest wake up call ever for conservatives and re-energize the base. I think the old "my Daddy was a Dem and so am I" mentality is on the way out around here finally.

I was born in Williamson, W.Va. and raised in the Kermit-Naugatuck area of Mingo County. My dad was a coal miner. After he was killed in an accident, my mother eventually movedwith my 2 brothers and meto Ohio years ago so that she could find work. Right now, I live in New York State. We've got plenty of liberals here! My heart is still in W.Va. though. I get down there when I can. I don't know how it is where you live, but that area has plenty of problems. The booze and drugs and the related crime are terrible. There's not much opportunity there, but I'd like to retire there just the same. I've got lots of cousins living there.
Yes, I was raised to think there was only one political party: the democratic one. I can't talk politics with those cousins. Most of them have conservative values, but they will blindly support any democrat that runs...party line people. Trouble is,the partyhas changed a lot...as you noted. I vote for conservative values. Rarely doI find a candidate that totally suits me. Up in my neck of the woods, you just don't see too many conservative democrats. Most of the time, I wind up voting republican these days: often the lesser of 2 evils. Nice meeting you!
