Here is why I think spreading the wealth will not work.
I am very new to American politics. I do not post much here, but do read every post. Here is a little story I must tell about a situation I have become aware of.As we all know, its tax season, and with that means some of us will be paying taxes and others will be getting a return. There is a lady I know, who has 6 kids. She is a single mother who has been married 3 times and now has a live in boy friend. She works odd jobs, most with pay under the radar. House cleaning, day labor, and the likes. I know this women because I spend time helping her kids out. I play a surrogate dad to them, if you will. Yesterday this lady was telling me that she was getting a nice tax return. In my mind I was thinking, "great, her kids really could use it." This information gave me a bit of relief because her kids have told me many times that the furniture guys are trying to take their furniture. I can only take that to mean she has rented furniture and has not made a payment. I see the rental center at her house off and on, but no one ever answers the door. Up on hearing about her tax return I was thinking to myself, "good, she can get this stuff paid off so the kids won"t have to hide from the furniture guy". Well guess what? Yesterday her kids ask me if I could help them move a dog house in their back yard because their mom had just had surgery and could not help. Concerned, I asked if she was ok. They laughed and said, "she is fine, she just had a boob job". You cannot image the anger that welled up in me. This women, who owes money to other people, used her "handout", if you will, to get a boob job. I am just beside myself.
Sorry for my expressed discontent. It is hard for me to witness something like this and not get angry. And thanks for reading.

RE: Here is why I think spreading the wealth will not work.
The very thing you just described is happening at the upper levels of big business right now, with tax cuts and bailout money. This is the reason that we need strict Regulation with oversite, all the way down the ladder to even this woman.

Just think Darkarrow, when Obama and his fellow libtards talk about "redistribution of wealth"(yours) she's the exact recipient they have in mind for it.
Welcome to socialism American style.

Please disregard the Rainmaker post...the poster is unqualified to proffer information of any kind, and as you have
probably figured out by now, he neither answered your question nor provided any insight.
Now.... I am going to make 1 assumption only....that your single mother is under 40 (closer to 35) years of age.
What you are seeing is the current state of American consumerist thought...the idea of immediate gratification.
The 'poor' (if you've travelled, you already know that most of whom we refer to as 'poor' in this country are not
truly poor...). This single mother could have done all sorts of more 'responsible things' with that money; pay down her debt, bank the money for a rainy day, etc. Instead, personal aggrandizement is the order of the day...immediate and instant gratification. It's sad to see, and personally frustrating to witness if you are of a more responsible type. THe 'institutional poor' are used to conducting affairs in this manner, and it is more the fault of the democrats in power who enable this sort of thing than it is the fault of those you actually live with. It's a fact of life that's been precipitated by social programs, entitlements, and left-inspired lifestyle choices. It is this cadre to which the redistribution of wealth appears so appetizing....and to whom the parasitic democrats are catering to.
It is a disgrace, and a very sad state of affairs, both for those living 'la vida loca' as well as their corrupt ad mutated supporters.

your friend is a trashy whore unworthy to have kids with no respect for herself or anyone else - and Obama and Rainmaker and Company want to allow my tax dollars to do to her wortheless ass

Come on, Bergall... Give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was an investment. Maybe she figured she'll make more tips for her "dances"...
Oh I agree with you and StealthycatII...but I've been a bad boy lately and the mods are breathing down my neck so I gotta be a good boy and respond in more cerebral terms so I don't get banned. Unfortunately for 'rain water', I can be almost as ascerbic with or without the offending language. So, yes, the woman is irresponsible with money, which may be the 'root cause' of her ...uh...ahem...'fiscal insolvency'.
