I was listening to "Science Friday" on NPR, and a stem cell researcher was on. He basically said, "Finally, decisions are being made based on science, and not morals." To him, this was a positive thing.[:'(]
One has to wonder how their constituents feel about these proposed laws. Do they even know that these proposals exist, or is this the work of the power brokers of the theological right? I'm opposed to abortion personally, but I see no wrong in harvesting tissue that would otherwise go down a drain somewhere if some possible good could come of it. We harvest organs from "human roadkill", so why not wasted zygotes?

Yep, OK is right up there. Never mind that this state is a net welfare state with no economy.Never mind that Okahoma has the seventh-highest teenage pregnancy birth rate in the nation.Never mind that our roads and bridges are among the worst in the USA.
For the record, at the state level is where everything should occur. Not the national level. We never gave the federal government the right to do it and we don't have the proper control to see it's done right.
As far as embryonic stem cell is concerned, why stop there? Heck, if the human is going to die anyway, why not allow experiments on them while they're alive. I think we would get better feedback from the subject. Heck, their just worm food in a short time anyway. We can take our lead from the Nazi's. Look at all the lives they were able to save when they began medical testing on the Jews. I think we all owe the a debt of gratitude, don't you?

OK has got to get on with that feel good stuff.
OK, might be on to something. They know they are so pitiful, (as you always proclaim) that they could not possibly get any hope from embryonic stem cells to cure anything. They probably look at the complete failure of the "progressive" states who have always had full liberty to find promise in embryonic stem cells, and find it even easier to stand up for their morals and principles. If the "progressive" states can't make it work, surely our poor ole lowly state can't.
Or, they could just be smart, and courageousenough to stand up for their own states rights afforded them under the 10th amendment.
I don't say it often, but kudos to OK.
