Global Warming

Al Gore says the science is done . . . why continue to debate? There is a new article out about a University of Wisconsin study that applies synchronized chaos theory to observed climate data taken over the past 100 years and shows very close correlation between natural events and global temperatures. According to this study, the warming trend of the last 30 years -- due to natural causes not human causes -- has stopped and in fact global temperatures have leveled off since 2001. The supervising scientist, Dr Tsonis says he thinks the current steady or even cooling earth temperatures may last a couple of decades. See the following link for more info:

I leave it as an exercise for the global warming zealots to demonstrate irrefutably that Dr Tsonis is a shill for the oil industry and multinational corporations, that Dr Tsonis is not a bonafide climate scientist, that Dr Tsonis kicks his dog, and that the study was paid for by the oil industry.

As a side note. I find it amusing to hear the tales of how all information or theories contrary to "human caused global warming" are disparaged as advanced by those with an ax to grind, a hidden agenda. I am reminded of a story about Freud. Freud said (allow me some liberty here) that everything was a phallic symbol. When Freud was asked about what his constantly smoking a cigar represented in the light of this theory, Freud said "that is different." I guess while all theories contrary to "human caused global warming" are advanced by self-interested parties, when confronted about their own self-interests, the global warming zealots, like Freud, say that is different.

While I don't have an axe to grind with those who believe we need to do less harm to the environment (I agree that we should use reasonable efforts to pollute less), I remain pretty convinced that "global warming" is a scam, a scare tactic being foisted upon us by the UN and its shills (Algore and the Democrat party), in order to force new taxes on Americans, drive us deeper into socialism and toward a One World Government, in which we'll be the ones primarily responsible for footing the bill....

The only "science" that is done is the self promoting junk science of those who stand ready to sell carbon credits for their own enrichment, and those like Obama who enable them by passing legislation based on it. Say, doesn't Algore sell carbon credits?

I very much agree with your opinion. Indeed, reasonable efforts to pollute less are appropriate, and we have done much along these lines. We banned aerosols and CFCs that were thought to damage the ozone layer. We banned DDT because of the harm it did to various portions of the environment, notably birds of prey. We banned leaded gasoline. We banned lead based paint. We outlawed use of lead shot when hunting waterfowl (lead falls into ponds, gets swallowed up bywaterfowl eating off bottom of pond, waterfowl get lead poisoning). I think all of these efforts have been judicious and well considered. I'm not advocating returning to leaded gasoline or returning to use DDT.

There is much about the stampede and media demagoguing of the "human caused global warming" that doesn't smell right. I too think this is a pretext to scam us for more taxes and to give the UN more power over us (unilateral actions to reduce Global Warming are pretty silly and ineffectual).

A point I have long argued is that our climate science is immature. How can we have the kind of confidence that Al Gore proclaims by saying "the science is done." The article I relate doesn't sound like a footnote to a footnote of the footnote about the finished science. It sounds fairly fundamental.
