Yep, that wonderful insurance giant that trashed the world economy with its credit default swaps is giving bonuses to the scumbags who trashed the company. AIG lost 62 billion in the last quarter of last year. They will be back for another helping of taxpayer funds at the end of the next quarter.
Wish that congress, the fed and treasury would just let this outfit crash.
WASHINGTON "“ American International Group is giving its executives tens of millions of dollars in new bonuses even though it received a taxpayer bailout of more than $170 billion dollars. AIG is paying out the executive bonuses to meet a Sunday deadline, but the troubled insurance giant has agreed to administration requests to restrain future payments.
The Treasury Department determined that the government did not have the legal authority to block the current payments by the company. AIG declared earlier this month that it had suffered a loss of $61.7 billion for the fourth quarter of last year, the largest corporate loss in history.
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has asked that the company scale back future bonus payments where legally possible, an administration official said Saturday.
This official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, said that Geithner had called AIG Chairman Edward Liddy on Wednesday to demand that Liddy renegotiate AIG's current bonus structure.
Yeah, it was all AIG's fault for ruining the worlds economy. Let's get rid of them so we never ever experience a down turn ever again. The world knows this was the first one ever. The world also knows it was AIG that has caused all those foreclosures in 5 states.[:@] I say we tar and feather them.

Let me ask both of you, shouldn't someone be allowed to earn a paycheck? Exactly what was their bonus plan? You all must be the ones who created it? Are you telling me they didn't earn it?

RE: AIG Gives Bonuses With Our Money
They ran the company into the ground and without the bailout would have gone down the tubes just like all the common AIG workers and investors who lost money. A bonus is supposed to be paid on performance. Shortly after the first wave of government money there were reports of a lavish upper management meetings complete with all the usual trappings of the rich and famous. It makes me sick. AIG has big balls if you ask me. I thought all the delays from the government were to eliminate this thing from happening. Good job AIG executives, the only thing you did well this past year was swindle billions out of the government.

A bonus isnt a paycheck, bonus's are earned seperately, theyre a reward. These people have taken billions in tax dollars in return for running a business to the brink of bankruptcy, thats not something to reward. As long as theyre sucking the government tit then no, they dont deserve it anymore than the professional welfare case deserves to be handed money for nothing.

I'm very surprised to read this Mouse.... you do realize it was your taxes that paid their bonuses right?
You're so butt hurt about a tax increase on the wealthy ( which won't be any higher than itwhat was paid underReagan )yet you don't have a problem with this wealth (your and many others wealth )being spread around...... lol.... blind.
Do you have a copy of their contract? Do you know if the person who is receiving their bonuses met their bonus numbers?

Get your facts straight. Why don't you tell us what all this money going to the bailout is being spent on? Don't you know AIG is still in business and still sells insurance policies making money and the people who are working for them are also entitled to get paid their contract?

False statement! Get your facts straight before you attempt to post this crap. Obama not only is going to raise the highest earners back up to "Clinton's" tax increase, he is also going after everyone else as well when all is said and done. He's not stoping there either. He wants to uncap SS ceiling on my earnings for to continue to pay for failed social programs. So you tell me again how my taxes are going only back to the rate of the Clinton days?

If they had a contract to receive a bonus, it is probably cheaper to pay the bonus then fight the lawsuit in court...

It's the tax payers money.... if they could afford to do all this stuff in the first place, why would they ask for a bailout?

So who paid those bonuses Mouse? They're struggling so much that instead of turing themselves around, they give out bonuses? lol
I have my facts straight... hear straight from JoeBiden in theVP debate. You also complain about Clinton's taxes.... people did quite well actually under his tax policies, and he also left office with a budget surplus...History of economic performance doesn't support your arguement.
Obama's coming after everyone else huh? lol.... how and why? Is it because he isn't giving tax breaks to the extremely wealthy?
